Our favorite restaurant in NYC! Outstanding food and service always! Highly recommend Blackbarn to anyone looking for a memorable night in a great atmosphere with the most delicious food!
Be the first to ReplyTop Notch
We had a family birthday celebration in a private room. Everything was wonderful: the service, the food quality and presentation and menu options. In particular we enjoyed the beef ribs, octopus, shrimp, squash ravioli and the desserts. Looking forward to dining there again.
Be the first to ReplyNot A lot of Vegetarian Options
Service: The service was average. We ordered drinks and sometimes they came fast and other times slow. Our waitress wouldn't check in on us very often either and I think we would have ordered more drinks if she had. Drinks: The drinks were excellent here. We were all very happy with our drink choices. Food: Everyone seemed to love their food. The portion size is big. I will say I was disappointed with the vegetarian food options. There wasn't a lot of savory options for brunch and everything else was basics pancakes and french toast. I did order the avocado toast and that was very delicious and much better than I even imagined. Cost: I would say the restaurant was a lot more expensive than anticipated and I don't think the overall experience was worth the cost.

Went here for dinner Server was pleasant and raves about the steaks My wife and our friend had an appetizer of octopus and they seemed pleased The bread was good but not hot We decided to share their tomahawk steak and have a side order of gnocchi The steak took what seemed like forever! Even the waiter was a bit concerned. Finally after more than 35 minutes they came out and displayed the steak, then took it back inside and brought it back out. It was served with truffle fries which were actually really good ( we devoured them) The steak however was another story. We ordered it medium but came out more rare than medium. They took some of it back ( we were really hungry) it was quite“ chewy! I took a couple of bites and that was it. The chef actually came out to apologize !

I hadn't been back to the Black Barn in about five years and I am pleased to say it has maintained its standards. Everything was good. Service was good too. It is a nice atmosphere for a crowd. It is basically a simple menu, but well done.

Nestled in the Chelsea Market, this place holds its own with a nice eclectic menu that appeases everyone in the group.
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot - loved brunch
We went to Chelsea Market in search of a lunch spot and are thrilled we found this place! The black bean soup was amazing along with other dishes. The staff were so kind
Be the first to ReplyPerfect Bday lunch!
So we came here for my Bday lunch having heard many good things about the food and ambiance. Wow! What a terrific place. Very large interesting modern barn design featuring a bar, informal front room, and a more elegant yet still relaxed back room with a kitchen view. We sipped a bottle of a lovely sparkling Cremant D’Alsace throughout our meal. Appetizers were a delicious porcini confit white pizza and incredible chestnut gnocchi with delicious roasted fall veggies. Mains were the chili dusted swordfish tacos, amazing tuna sliders, branzino and red snapper. All were perfectly prepared, fresh and tasty. As a Bday surprise I got butterscotch bread pudding with cider doughnuts and a butterscotch sauce! Our server, Caroline m, was terrific- taking the time to discuss all the food in detail and making sure we were completely happy with our choices. With lovely ambiance, great food— AND THE ABILITY TO HEAR AND SPEAK IN A NORMAL VOICE!!- what more could anyone want for a Bday lunch! We shall return!
Be the first to ReplyGood spot for brunch
Had a really nice brunch at this restaurant not too far from the flatiron building. They had live music which is a nice touch. Service was good. The food was good if a little heavy. It’s pretty pricey but not atypical for New York City. I definitely recommend it. One suggestion make reservations.
Be the first to ReplyDecent brunch $$$$
Enjoyed a brunch here the food and service both really good.
Atmosphere was fine, a bit on the dark side for my preference...I like to see what I’m eating.
For us, the portions were on the smaller than average for those prices. We know this because usually a main will suffice, but here 2 courses were needed to feel content.
Nice to come for a special occasion perhaps.
Terrific!! We loved it!
Amazing food thanks to the italian chef! Spectacular place, excellent service and friendly and welcoming staff.
Thank you guys for the wonderful and delicious experience!
Great brunch
The brunch menu here is super....a great mix of very creative sweet and savory dishes, something for everyone, and reasonable prices. Lots of drink choices as well. The egg raviolo was incredible, the huevos chilaquiles were excellent, and both the burger and steak and egg sandwich were hits. I want to go back and try the shrimp and grits! Live music added a really nice touch (and it wasn't too loud). It was a nice experience and a fun meal.
Be the first to ReplyMother's Day Brunch enjoyable
Since my dinners at this farm-to-table restaurant have been enjoyable, I happily anticipated my Mother's Day Brunch, my first here. I was not disappointed. The restaurant was crowded (I don't know if that is common for a normal Sunday brunch here) but we had reservations. The brunch menu was the same as for any Sunday.
My son and I shared the deviled eggs (3 in an order) and the mini Lobster rolls (two in an order) for starters. He had the burger and fries, while I had the Egg Yolk raviolo for our entrees. We both had coffee.
Tables were set for two, four, or 6. In the front of the restaurant a light jazz trio played, where just a few tables were set up. Our table was in the busier section in the back.
Our server was friendly and cheerful, patiently answering my questions about the level of spiciness. The food was all delicious and I recommend any of the choices we made. However, we waited a long while for our coffees to come (that seemed a bit unusual, even for such a busy crowd. It was unclear if they had sufficient staff.)
I did not take photos (too busy enjoying the conversation and food) but I would go back for another Sunday brunch (and/or a dinner again!)
Awesome brunch/lunch
The food was wholesome and fantastic farm fare. The Bloody Mary service was endless. Awesome Sunday afternoon. Highly recommended
