Unique Seasoning Combinations
We joined a business dinner and parked across the street in the free public parking lot. Once inside the clean ambiance stood out with a full bar and main seating area. There was also small area that was closed off by a moveable wall. We could also view all the kitchen activity and were seated close by. Service was quite attentive with staff always refilling glasses and removing used plates. Overall menu was limited and had an Asian fusion theme. The top choices, with some unique seasonings, for me were: Wagyu tenderloin was cooked medium, very tender and had a great flavor King salmon was fork tender and moist with a very unique flavor from the sour orange and gochugaru Grilled avocado was delicious when mixed together with the wasabi, allium oil and yuzu ponzu Honey gem lettuce was presented with a quartered heart of romaine with pistachio, chervil and wasabi

Excellent atmosphere, high quality dishes. Two thumbs up to the grilled avocado. The separate room is perfect place for an elegant business dinner

We had a group meal here and the menu was preset but everything we ate was delicious. The cocktails and wine weee also excellent t and we also really liked the ambience. Definitely a good choice for a meal.
Be the first to ReplyA Disappointing Fried Chicken dinner
Manage your expectations when dining at Bird Dog the photos online show amazingly shot dishes and fun dรฉcor with southern charm. Going with the least expensive Chicken Dinner Menu it is hard to get out of there for less than $75 per person especially since most appetizers had supplemental charges. So letโs get to the food, the appetizers we had were good but not of a Southern origin. The Chicken while well-cooked lacked full flavor in the batter and was not much better than Popeyeโs and for $16 at Lucky Louieโs next door you will find far better fried chicken. The picture of the Mac & Cheese is voluptuous with crusty cheese creation what we got was a pasta shells in a soupy cheese sauce and mushy bread crumbs (I have pictures). Friendly good service but the Management wants to charge you for the Daniel Boulud Bistro experience while serving you subpar Southern food on rickety chairs and tables.

Super small portions, zero creativity, it was a really average and overpriced experience. Food was also cold

Excellent food and wine & cocktails. The restaurant offers a few gluten-free dishes. Service pays a great attention and is friendly. The AC was a bit too cold.
Be the first to ReplyExtraordinary!
Ordered multiple plates so we all enjoyed many exquisite dishes. The wine was carefully selected to pair with each item. Truly, this restaurant is well worth the (repeat) visit. Canโt wait to go back.
Of note: they require masks when you are not seated and there is no entry without proof of vaccination. Thank you for caring, Bird Dog!!
Amazing once-in-a-blue-moon experience
What an impressive experience for my first time trying a Micheline-starred restaurant! The attention put on the smallest details, the knowledge and insight from the waiter, with just enough personal information volunteered to make us feel "special" and yet not overwhelmed at the same time. Each step of the process felt important: pulling out of chairs, presentations of the menu, with discussion over details and method for proceeding with our order, inquiries as to our preferences in taste, etc. And all this without us really knowing it was being done! The waiter knew more about my tastes and preferences in the first 5 minutes of the evening than I knew myself!
The dining room is open and spacious, but the seating is still cozy-feeling, and the open kitchen adds just enough noise to create a more comfortable ambiance, almost like you are sitting in a friend's kitchen while they are busy preparing your meal. And the food! My goodness, every mouthful was a new experience in proper balancing of tastes, sweet, savory, umami...Some favorites of the meal include the yeasted waffle, which I think could work equally well as a dessert as it does a starter, and the new potatoes, which I am glad came in such a generous portion - I think I could've eaten just those two dishes and been satisfied! If you are looking for something a little more special(this is NOT an every night kind of place!), I would definitely suggest going all out and experiencing an evening at Bird Dog.
Excellent (but small) food (and I wasn't paying)
The restaurant has a chill vibe, and I found the staff very helpful and attentive. They didn't try to rush us, and paid close attention to our pace and let us determine it.
I found it to be a bit loud for a business dinner. The open kitchen is beautiful, but I watched many of the prep folks touching the food with their bare hands-- I know that's how it's done, but they were also touching lots of other things.
The food is tiny-- as in, I'd plan for a post-meal. That said, each bite was delightful. (We were a party of four, and each item literally has about one bite.)
We had starters, vegetables, and proteins (waygu beef, chicken, and salmon), and one bottle of the lowest priced bottles of wine, and the bill was well over $500. I didn't understand the buzz about the avocado, it was just an avocado with some sauce. I mean, it was a good avocado but still. And the waffle-- confused about why it's so special, but it was good-- not $18 dollar good for what it was, but still tasty.
It was delicious and impressive-- for a business dinner (read: paid not by me) -- but I had been paying, I might have been not as impressed.
I think the magic would be-- don't go in very very hungry-- and enjoy each morsel.
Okay but no better
I had no say in the food served at this business dinner. Lots of small plates, many somewhat awkward for sharing among a group. Service was barely okay, as the pacing was too slow. Not as noisy as some restaurants. Nothing terrible, but nothing noteworthy either. No dish stood out as special. I'd eat here again but only after looking elsewhere first.
Be the first to ReplyDELICIOUS (But I wasn't paying)
The ambiance here is great, the servers super friendly and knowledge. The food was DELICIOUS - but... tinnnnyyy portions. I probably wouldn't come here a. if I was hungry or b. if I was paying. But the fresh fish was yummy.

I would love to have given this place 5 stars but it missed on a couple points. But firstly the place was buzzing and great ambiance and the staff were great. The food great but the highly recommended avocado starter was really a disappointment and rather pedestrian. Also the Roti bread had to be chased for several times and finally came half way through the meal. A little irritating. The pork dish was great and the new "little" potatoes delicious and the Brussels sprouts were very good as was the waffle. But for the price, the one very disappointing avocado dish and the non appearance of the bread until late in the meal should not have occurred. Nevertheless highly recommended and a generally enjoyable dinner.
Be the first to ReplyStay away if you appreciate your Money.
This place is bank robbery at its best.
Servers recommend you order 5 to 6 dishes to share. The plates are the size of a Toddler's meal. My friends and I have never regreted money so badly spent.
Also while there, we witness kitchen staff eating from the food they were plating and drinking in front of guests, two big no no's in the Industry. The restrooms were dark and filthy, with urine all over the floor. Feel bad for the ladies that have to use the facilities.
Over all, stay away and do your research before you try California New Cuisine.
one of the best restaurants I ever visited
I'm a foody, and this restaurant is one of the top 3 I ever visited, globally. A beautiful decor, the highest level of maintenance, the most professional waiters, that know each component and the preparation method, and the food...oh my god - the food is divine! no other way to put it. We had the Buri starter - a touch of Japanese that dances in your mouth; then the grilled Avocado, which I have no way of describing it but "oh my god"; and we continued to have the fried chicken, and the sirloin steak, with the special potatoes dish side. It was the kind of dinner that you want to cry with each bite, with joy on the one hand and with sorrow, as this bite got you closer to the end of the meal. It's a definitely MUST RETURN place. Don't miss it!
Be the first to ReplySmall menu but excellent preparations
I had been here for dinner but went for lunch. The menu is broken up in two 3 parts with about 6 choices in each section. Salads and small bites in the first section and slightly larger servings in the second section and heavier Entrees in the third section. They encourage you to order one from each so we ended up with 6 dishes for the two of us. That was too much and we would have been happy with 4. They have a full bar and a quite extensive wine list. But we had the Thai Basil and Black Pepper soda, which was refreshing. We started off with Shima Ajji which was slices off raw Hamachi sprinkled with Tempura bits, a gem salad , followed by the Organic Egg which Was a a poached egg with some mushrooms in a spicy tomato sauce ( shakshuka) and potato crisps. The dish is spicy and light. Ok not great. The Wood grilled Avocado is their signature dish and comes a half avocado which has a soy sauce mix in the hollow of the Avocado. Tasty. The main entrees was their Fried Chicken and Grilled Hamachi. Both were excellent.
Not for me
Was looking forward to trying this place. The food and flavor combinations were not at all what my palette enjoys. We ordered a lot of different dishes so had a good sampling but none were to my taste. I can't explain it. Have never had this reaction anywhere. Very pricey.
