Amazing experience as other reviews stated.
Had reservations and were warmly greeted and promptly seated. Server came right over got drinks and some artesian bread. Service was first rate as was the food. We had the filet and salmon with salad and meatballs as apps. We were too full for dessert so couldn't tell on that. The ambiance was good if there was a knock on the place was the close seating and it was a little loud in there between the chatter and music. So if you're looking for a quote and intimate dinner it's not your place. Overall great experience for us
Be the first to ReplyThis place is overpriced for what you get.
Most of us enjoyed our meals, but three of us ordered fish, two different kinds, and each had bones in them. The waitress was nice but she and the busboys were too eager to remove dishes from our table and that got a little annoying. The salted fish flambéd tableside is cool to see, but $70 is way too much for it. Keep in mind that an 18 percent tip is automatically added to every bill.

Food. A true winterpark repeat. Well educated staff on the food and how it's cooked

This is my favorite restaurant in Winter Park and Orlando area. I love the vibe scene in the lounge area. The food is awesome. Took a colleague there last night and it was on fire.

My partner and I had a 5:30 reservation and while extremely busy, we were seated within 10 minutes. I was amazed by the atmosphere and interior of the restaurant, as it truly felt like Greece. Upon being seated, we ordered waters to drink, and we were given "still" water, which we ended up having to pay for, just as you would in Greece or other European countries. My partner ordered a glass of wine and enjoyed it. For the appetizer, we ordered the Greek spread, consisting of hummus and Taziki dips with bread and veggies. This was delicious and we were given a pita refill, which based on the bill cost, I'm sure we paid for. Between the appetizer and meal, our table was cleaned and we were given new dishes and silverware. To add on, the server gave me a magnetic clip to use to attach my table to the purse so it wouldn't be on the ground. The service was amazing. For the meal, I ordered the Chicken Tangine. It was mediocre at best. My partner ordered the salmon and while tasty, a very small portion. Our bill came out to $150, which I can say wasn't even anywhere near worth it. Can't say I'll be back, as park ave has better imo.
Be the first to ReplyI have had dinner here twice.
The first time was an "event" meal with a fixed menu and the second time was just the regular menu. Before getting into the food parking was easy for both. The first time they were actually doing valet down the street and the second time Winter Park was quiet enough where it wasn't needed at all. The food and experience here are outstanding. The Aegean Caesar Salad - Baby gem lettuce, lavash, graviera cheese is a nice take on a favorite for me. The Horiatiki | Greek Salad - PDO aged-feta, heirloom tomato, persian cucumber, red onion, greek mountain oregano, kalamata olive, (of which I only tasted) was amazing as well. The main course of the Fish Market Branzino - Salt Crust - pistou, toum, lemon was great too, and the presentation table side is a wonderful touch to the great meal. Service is excellent. Reservations require a deposit, which doesn't bother me, but it might bother others.
Be the first to ReplyStopped in last night with no reservation while out in
Stopped in last night with no reservation while out in Winter Park and we had a fabulous time. The ambiance, service, and food were outstanding. My favorite dish was the lobster linguine, by far the best I've ever had and the table-side presentation was a wonderful touch. The hostess also informed us that there's a member's only lounge on the lower level that serves Japanese-inspired cuisine, which I hope to experience one day. All in all, if you're in the area I would highly recommend!

We have dined at AVA many times, and without fail, there's always been an issue either with the food or the wine order. This past Saturday (3/30/24) they not only gave us less than 5 ounce wine pore (they admitted to their mistake) they didn't deliver my food at all and the manager ( Vanessa Carrillo) was not only unapologetic she was disrespectful and rude ( " well, we run out of food and mistakes happen"). Don't you think that if they run out of food they will let you know as you are ordering and not 2 hours later, and after the rest of the party has eaten ? Also they took literally 1 hour to bring us our checks, they blamed that the first waiter that was serving us had to leave so somebody else had to take our table. The assistant manager London Riley came to our table not to apologize but to back up the manager . This whole scene was so embarrassing to us , we were a table of 8 mid age professionals being treated like 2nd class citizens. While they comped some of the food after we requested a manager, it didn't compensate for the terrible experience. Instead of enjoying a pleasant dinner with friends, we found ourselves constantly going back and forth with the staff. As the evening progressed, the situation only worsened. I'm puzzled by the five-star reviews AVA receives, especially considering the reputation it has among locals is far from stellar.

I have been to AVA three times with a reservation and have waited a minimum of 30 minutes for our table. Yesterday was told to stand outside until our table was ready. Finally done giving them a chance to get it right.

Update: I returned to Ava MediterrAegean for date night and tried some more dishes! Everything was amazing and our server, Josh, was great! I got the black truffle risotto which was very flavorful and the perfect texture.

Be the first to ReplyI have been to this place a few times, it is a go to spot
I have been to this place a few times, it is a go to spot for my friends and I. The atmosphere is very chatty and social, the aesthetic is beautiful. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, as well as couches, chairs and bar seating. I come during the weekends mostly, and would advice that reservations are a must for the evening weekends! The wait time gets long, and there is a line waiting, and for good reason! The food is delicious. I love a good espresso martini, and am in love with their take on it called the carajillo. It is creamy and coffee like, just refreshing. It is definitely top 3 favorite alcoholic drinks I've ever had from a restaurant. I ordered the salmon for my entree, with a side of Brussels sprouts. I would say it isn't my favorite thing I've ordered here, but it was still very yummy. I love the pomegranate in the Brussels sprouts. My friend ordered the lobster pasta and has ordered it every time she had come, she loves it! The baklava was so delicious, the pistachio icecream and crushed pistachio on top was incredible, I enjoyed this dessert so much, I cannot wait to order it again next time I return to Ava.
Be the first to ReplyAva is such a beautiful restaurant with neutral and clean
Ava is such a beautiful restaurant with neutral and clean decor that stays true to the Mediterranean theme. The set up of the restaurant was also very well thought out and the service was impeccable! From start to finish our server was always attentive to our needs and ensured our table was clean between entrees. We went for brunch and I must say the hummus was our favorite. The steak, (although beautifully presented) lacked in flavor, but the sauce made up for it. The burger was also decent. Overall, the location is perfect since it is in the heart of downtown winter park and it is a solid choice for a nice date night or outing.

I was traveling for business and came upon this quaint restaurant. I sat at the bar and had a wonderful meal. The bartender, Sean, who served me was friendly, attentive, and gave me a wonderful recommendation on the steak. I would highly recommend this restaurant and hope to go back in the future. Jana K
Be the first to ReplyPretentious.
We had made reservations. After arriving, we waited 30 minutes to be seated. Eventually, we were greeted by our very sweet waitresses. She explained the restaurant as being "fish forward." And meals would be brought out as the Kitchen finished them so we could eat they came out. FYI that means it will take 45 minutes for the food to come. The manager came over to apologize (we hadn't complained) 30 minutes in and said that our meals were coming soon and not to worry. No consolation other than his words were offered. No complimentary drink, dessert, etc. "Family style" was also used. But the size was so small that it wasn't enough for two. When everything was said and done, we had paid $400 for a meal and we were hungry afterward! The restaurant automatically put an 18% tip on the bill. No mention of this, we just happened to check our bill. Maybe this is a regional thing? Again, very presumptuous. I do not recommend this place at all!!!!
Be the first to ReplyDecided to give this restaurant a try during the art
Decided to give this restaurant a try during the art festival. We had a reservation, knowing it would be busy, and were seated at a great outdoor table right on the ave. Our server Alexis was fantastic, she went over the menu and gave recommendations upon request. I had the Greek salad with a side of grilled chicken and my friend had the ahi tuna. The salad was perfect in every way, as was the tuna. We had a couple cocktails (didn't love the espresso martini but did love the GT cocktail super refreshing). We decided to try the baklava, it was another hit the pistachio orange blossom gelato made the dish a 10! I appreciated that as every dish was presented they explained the dish and gave a final touch at the table like squeezed lemon over the crispy potatoes. I would love to go back and try their dinner menu and I would definitely get the Greek salad again.

Be the first to Reply4 Stars for really terrific Mediterranean food, great
4 Stars for really terrific Mediterranean food, great service, and a beautiful albeit impractical interior. I made a reservation to celebrate my anniversary at Ava since neither my partner nor I had been there yet. We love Mediterranean food and have craved it since our trip to Greece years ago. The day-of the reservation I got a call from the restaurant to confirm we understood the dress code and that there is a two hour limit on the tables. It was a bit off putting, but I understand the reasoning and think setting expectations is reasonable. (Quick note that we did see a guy in casual shorts seated outside, so not sure how strict they are about athleisure. Also we chuckled that the website says that Ava's "culinary philosophy embraces the importance of slowing down and enjoying the moment"... [but not a minute over two hours]. lol) We arrived and only waited a few minutes to get seated. Unfortunately we didn't get the main dining room, which has your typical table and chairs, but were sat in the loungey area by the bar instead. This was kind of a bummer as it's much more casual on that side and the seats are better for lounging than practically serving as dining chairs. Our seats were bucket-style accent chairs which were attractive but very impractical. If we sat back in them our arms were at shoulder height on the arm rests, so instead we had to sit upright at the edge of the chair to be able to dine normally. This seems like a better option for walk-ins and not necessarily for someone who made a reservation specifying an anniversary. Regardless, we agreed that good food would make up for the discomfort. And we were in luck because the food and service was fabulous. Our server, Cassidy, was friendly and communicative when things were taking a bit longer in the kitchen. She was a pleasure! For food we ordered a smattering of vegetarian options to share. Our favorites were: - the Greek Salad: this was a true Greek salad, with a thick slab of imported feta cheese on top (the gentleman who brought it to the table offered to cut it up for our salad, which was a lovely touch), and everything you expect in an authentic Greek salad. It was exceptional in its freshness and flavor. It was definitely big enough to share and we wouldn't let them clear it until every bite was done! - the Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) were perfection. They were served on top of homemade tzatziki and pine nuts with some microgreens on top. Not a single bit of tzatziki was left on the plate by the end!! - Cauliflower dish: this is a HUGE portion, but the flavors were on point!! Cassidy even offered to bring us more yogurt sauce and chutney (she must've seen how much we loved it with the spiced cauliflower!). Since we were too full for dessert, Cassidy ended up surprising us with a small bowl of pistachio gelato for our anniversary and OH MY GOODNESS. Whatever you do, get this ice cream. I haven't stopped thinking about it, it's THAT GOOD. It was a lovely surprise and special touch with the Happy Anniversary chocolate on it, and it will definitely inspire me to get the pistachio gelato next time. It was a real treat!

Sean was an attentive and amazing bar tender! The table service provided by Jason was exceptional and he ensured we had everything we needed for our business dinner!
