A simple ambience welcomes you to the place with good indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is facilitated with lots of heaters and the vibe of the cute little downtown in Los Altos just adds up to the experience. The skeptical me opened ti menu to be surprised to see an actual fusion Indian menu with lots of favorite ingredients. Gobi - we started with cauliflower in rice flour( it's gluten free) and it was sooo crispy. Reminded me of the gobi my mom does. The spicy mayo( eggless) was the perfect combination. Paneer pesto- I was curious. The taste was similar to any Indian green chutney. But the panneer was perfectly cooked and the sauces that came along are just amazing as they look. My partner had a nice wine and he really liked it. We ordered biryani which came in an open bowl, a little oily to my taste. It was flavourful and tasty though. Would've been a 4/5 if not for the full presentation and the oil. So, I would give it a 3.5/5 Apricot kofta - this was a miss for me. The gravy is rich and the kofta is well fried. But, the apricots and the taste from them was no where to be found. The butter naan that came as a side(you pay separately) had very little butter. Though it was cooked to perfection, a small spoon of butter would've made wonders. The staff is super helpful and the service was quick. Presentation is curated and appetising. Chocolate rasamalai - it was a familiar taste. But the chop ate balanced the overtly sweet rasmalai and I liked the combination. Tiramisu - this was a miss for us. Both of us did not like the tiramisu and the gulabjamun that came along. Overall, a good experience and perfect place for date nights!

One of the best Indian restaurants in the area!! I have tried many restaurants in the area and this is one of the best. They have plenty of unique items on their menu. We have been there multiple times and have tried many varieties from their menu. The food is simply amazing and is comparable to high end restaurants in India. The ambience of the restaurant is also very appealing. The staff is also very friendly and courteous. We always take our guests to this restaurant and everyone loves the food here. I highly recommend Aurum!!

Smokey - Jhalmuri, a Smokey twist to the Kolkata classic. It has a strong Smokey flavor. If you enjoy that you'll love this. Nazam - Dahi Kababs are amazing, very crispy and flavorful, definitely recommend it. Panner Tikka - Interesting dipping chutneys. And very well plated. Not so Pasta - This is brilliant, it's a curry with panner layered with spinach and topped with cheese. Very rich and flavorful. Definitely recommend this. Panner Tikka - it's a classic but well made. Okra Entree - Crispy and super delicious definitely recommend this. Parrota - Nicely made but thick. Garlic Naan - Nicely made and authentic. Goat cheese and spinach flatbread - Interesting combination, heavy on goat cheese. Chocolate Rasmalai - Yummy dessert, not too sweet, definitely recommend this. Thandai Panna cotta - Subtle but has thandai flavor Good service and nice vibe.

I had the opportunity to go to Aurum for a work event and it was an awesome experience. We ordered several appetizers: roasted cauliflower, fried chicken, lamb chops and more. They were all delicious: the chicken literally crackles as you cut bites, but is super juicy, the cauliflower was perfectly cooked, just a little crunch, and the lamb as well as the romanesco cauliflower it comes with were great. Our mains were similarly expansive: chicken biriyani, and "spinach lasagna" were the standouts. Fun story: the "I'm not pasta" dish is the one Chef Manish beat Bobby Flay with, and it's so good. Overall an awesome experience if you are in the area and want delicious, authentic, but still unique Indian food.

The service has been pleasant and attentive each time we have been there. But, the best reason to come back is that the food is simply really good!
Be the first to ReplyThe food was average and not extraordinary in taste making
The food was average and not extraordinary in taste making it very expensive and absolutely not worth it. Service was fast but there were a few moments where service was so fast that it felt like they just heated precooked food and served. The staff was however, nice and cordial. Ambiance was the most disappointing aspect. It is a small restaurant with red paint making the whole place look even smaller. The interiors were below average, furniture before average, napkins were stinking, the menu cards were cheaply made in fact drinks menu was nothing but a folded sheet of paper. It had no fine dining feel or ambiance or components. It does not justify the triple dollar sign and is a total rip-off. Not going back.

I have dined here several times and cannot believe I haven't reviewed it! Excellent restaurant! I loved their jhalmuri.. it had a strong mustard flavor that my husband found too strong, but I liked it! We both loved the methi paneer tikka. For the main course, I always order the spinach paneer lasagna("I'm not pasta").. The dal makhni is always excellent. The apricot kofta is delicious. The rotis are soft and fresh. We ate so much all three times that I have visited, never had an opportunity to try dessert. We will surely come back!

Have never been disappointed. Will visit again for sure

I really wanted to like this place because we live nearby, but this was really disappointing. We had the spiral potato and artichoke dishes as appetizers, which were ok, and then had their butter chicken, chicken biryani and dal makhani as entrees, which were not very good. Lots of better options in the Mountain View and Palo Alto areas. Service was good and the restaurant seating is nice - we just weren't particularly impressed with the food (and we have lots of Indian food experience to compare this with)

Food was really amazing .. loved the appetizer Mr Potato!!Desserts and appetizers were awesome!!

Had a chance to try out Aurum for my parents anniversary, and so glad I did! This is a beautiful upscale Indian restaurant that serves food from all parts of India - and they did a great job of it. I made a reservation here for around 7:30pm and once we got there we were quickly seated. The ambiance was calming and they lit a candle on the table which was nice. Once seated we ended up ordering:*Trio of chicken Kabob - this came with three different types of kabob, the chicken was soft and succulent and we loved all the different flavors. The plating was also fantastic* Fish curry (Nemo) - this was a halibut fish curry, which we enjoyed. The fish was made soft with the skin crispy, and as we kept eating it (with rice) we ended up enjoying the flavor more and more* Kosha mangsho - this was a lamb curry and is a Bengali delicacy (part of India that I am from). We thoroughly enjoyed this with garlic naan*Mushroom butter chicken (Two Good) - this was the table favorite! The chicken was soft and juicy and came in a bowl covered with a pastry puff. The curry was delicious and creamy and gave a nice light twist to butter chicken. I would get this again* thandai panna cotta - for dessert we got this dessert from their Holi Special menu and this was yummy. It was a soft pudding like texture, not too sweet and flavorful. The pistachios on the top added an amazing crunch. We finished this quickly to say the leastOverall, really enjoyed the food at Aurum, we were also able to meet and talk to the chef who spoke to us about how he curated the menu and background on the restaurant. Really nice man with awesome culinary skills. Highly recommend to try this restaurant and get some delicious food!

Disappointing and pricey foodOrderedAchari Chicken Kebab - No seasoning and salt in the Kebab. The taste was really blandLamb Korma - Nothing special. Really small serving size given the cost of the item. Better serving and better taste in Zareen's or Karimi'sChili Chicken Kulcha - Only decent item that we enjoyed eating. Also not family friendly. We came in with a toddler and the restaurant had no high chairs or a kid's menu.

Some creative variations on some usual Indian dishes. Try mr potato!

We tried below items:Drink: Tango in GoaFood: Jhalmuri, Rajma Galouti, I am not PastaDesert: Chocoholic, Stone.Drink was very refreshing with a hit of spice.Jhalpuri presentation was nice in a smoky glass tumbler and smelled amazing.Galouti kabobs were good in taste but tiny and not portioned well. Only 4 mini kebabs per plate!!I am not pasta was a good fusion between of Indo-Italian flavors and goes very well with a side of Roti.Deserts was presented very well and had unique flavors. Stone was the winner!! And a must try here.Chocoholic was not too sweet and had a delicious Rabdi mousse.Apart form that, we found the place to be little crowded and noisy. Maybe that was because of Friday night rush.It didn't feel that classy for the price tag.Usually, if you request to make a cocktail virgin, the cost of drink is reduced. But here, they charged full. But overall, I recommend this place for food taste.
Be the first to ReplyWe used to love Aurum when it first opened.
We actually ordered out and drive 15 min to pickup our favorite Indian meals; but pur ladt week dinner was so bad and we are now searching for some other Indian restaurant like the old Aurum. I love the traditional chicken tiki masala with roasted nuts purée as thickener rather than cream, etc... the Madam Vice President meal for two. I think this restaurant tried too hard to break of the Indian foods - it does not work. we ordered five dishes ($160) for two and nothing works. The scallops lacked flavor, the lamb shank was not falling off the bone, the chicken byryna (sp?) was unremarkable. And the nans was not up to par period. We were so happy to find Aurum but the qualityof food has been declining and this past order is the last one for us. So sad!

The ambiance was great, they have awesome instrumental music playing in the background. The food recommendations by the staff was spot on. We ordered drinks and they were excellent! If you are looking for something special, Aurum is your place.

As you walk into the restaurant, you are enveloped in a tapestry of bright colors, which is very welcoming. The servers are very friendly and attentive. We started off with SINGJU (lotus root & greens salad), which was a very creative take on including lotus root in a salad. We enjoyed the flavors but the garbanzo beans in the salad did not go with the texture of the salad. We also ordered LION SINGH (achari chicken kebab) but were left underwhelmed. The chicken was moist & tender but the flavors did not do it for us. The accompanying yogurt also arrived about 15 minutes later with the entrées. For the main course, we ordered the SIVAS - apricot kofta, DIDI - kosha mangsho, with a side of Dal Makhni. The highlight of the dinner was the DIDI..the lamb was so flavorful and moist and tender. There was a wee bit of extra salt in the Dal Makhni but overall it was very enjoyable. Loved the apricot kofta as well. We ended with dessert of OUT OF WAY - tapioca kheer and STONE - jaggery & fig kulfi. We loved the saffron flavor in the tapioca kheer and the kulfi was also unique. Overall, a good experience.

My husband and I enjoy our dinners at Aurum so much that we decided to hire them for catering an evening event . Manish customized a menu based on our requirements. The suggestions for passed appetizers were unique and most importantly delicious. The restaurant sent a kitchen team to put the finishing touches on the dishes at the site and worked well within the schedule of the party. Every guest I spoke with mentioned how much they enjoyed the modern take on Indian food.

Fantastic fine dine place with creative, flavorful dishes and drinks! Located in Los Altos, one of the most beautiful downtowns in the bay area and packed with good food/dessert places. My favorite food/drink items at Aurum are:1. Mr potato (potato spiral chaat)2. Raga kofta (sundried tomato kofta)3. Cucumber/mint raita4. Heaven can wait (toffee pudding)5. New Delhi sangria (Mulled wine, Red Wine, Cinnamon, Cardamom)6. Green with envy (Khus, Nigori, White Vermouth, Yuzuri)Incredible flavors, good portion sizes, and always feels fresh! I've been to Aurum multiple times and have not been disappointed. I would love to see different vegetarian items on the menu, especially with tofu and seitan as protein. It would be great to see the restaurant be creative with these plant-based protein options and infuse the Indian flavors in them!I am not a fan of smoky flavors (think American BBQ sauce, Chipotle pepper) so haven't tried their chipotle paneer or smokey jhalmuri. Would love to check in with them if they can make the dish without adding the smokey flavor. They're very accommodating of special requests and will go the extra mile in making your experience special. Overall, highly recommend!

Amazing food and service! The potato chip chat was very different and delicious! The main dishes of the mushroom potpie and the spinach lasagna were simply out of this world, be it in the presentation, uniqueness , taste and quality!
Be the first to ReplyAurum is hands down the best restaurant in Los Altos.
We go about every other week, and look forward to it on the nights we are not there. Very pleased to see that Michelin has taken note of its quality in the recently released ratings. Incredibly creative and flavorful food, and excellent service.

Be the first to ReplyWe really enjoyed working with Aurum for our wedding.
Our tasting experience was great and the food served at our event was just as good as what we ate in the restaurant. Many people complimented the tacos and the jhalmuri. We would highly recommend choosing Aurum for catering Indian food.
