Met up with a friend I had not seen in 25 years and this was a great spot as the tables provided some privacy, we were not elbow to elbow which is norm, and the crowd was an older dinner crowd so not wild and crazy going on. Wild and crazy is going to be in a few nights ;)This is traditional French, from the food to the ambience to the wait staff. Classic.Everything was delicious, I started with the lobster salad and holy lobster, I had about half a lobster on my plate w a sizeable salad, fresh as can be. My friend had the frogs legs in parsley and garlic and if it hadnt been our 25 year reunion I would have snatched it from him and fingers and all munched down on those scrumptiously garlicky legs. For my main I had the duck which was exactly as you would expect duck in Paris to be except for the massice amount of buttery buttery lavish mashed potatoes. I was at first thunderstruck by the amount till I tasted my first bite and soon enough my pound of mashed potatoes was gone, licked up with the delectable cherry sauce that accompanied my duck. Other dishes on the table were the swordfish, which vanished in minutes and a whole lobster with a creamy sauce and a platter of frsh steamed greens. My dessert was a profiterile, which may seem chintzy, a profiterole, till I tell you it was the size of a baseball, filled with creamy ice cream and what seemed like a carafe of dark dark hot chocolate to pour onto it. My gosh, I was full and more than happy. This was with a 50 euro bottle of bordeaux from St Emillion to wash everything down with.My friend had the Grand Marnier souffle which was the most perfect souffle I have ever seen. HUge rise, perfectly browned and light as clouds inside. It seems this is the dessert to have as every other diner had one of these on their table.Would I return, yes yes. If you want a quiet dinner and ability to talk this is great. Fixed rate of 30 or 35 euros depending on 2 or 3 courses. Ample wine list.Already craving those little froggies. ribbit ribbit.
