My kind of restaurant
Atelje Finne is unpretentious, plain, yet intimate. The staff gives a friendly greeting which sets the tone for the evening. Very attentive, yet discreete service! All food is domestic so this is not the place for exotic discoveries, but all food is fresh, innovative and delicious. We are told all fish is from Western Finland, caught by one of the owners. The European Smelt (Osmerus eperlanus) is rarely served in restaurants. Here the deepfried fish sits well on top of a tomato-herbes salsa. Also the reindeer carpaccio was beautifully laid out and tasty. Another rare find in restaurants is the pike. Normally transformed into quenelles Atelje Finne serves it panfried with a parsnip puree. Superb! (I have not had superb pike for ages!). Also the pike perch was applauded. The wine list is long enough to serve the taste of any winelover. This is a place I always return to, in view of this experience I'll be back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Finnish Food!
We had a great dinner at Atelje Finne. The place is charming and inviting. The service was very good and friendly. The do not have a lounge or bar to sit at before, but provide a small selection of cocktails for a great start (I had a very good Negroni). We ordered the three course tasting menu (ala carte selections) and started with Leek Soup and the Beef Tartar - both were excellent. For main courses, we selected the fish mousseline and reindeer saddle steak; again both were outstanding. A nice cheese selection rounded out our meal. Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyAn exquisite meal!
We turned up, unbooked, groaned when we saw a large party taking up much of the ground floor - but regardless we were welcomed in. We hadn’t realised this had been the workshop of the Finnish sculptor Gunnar Finne. Several of his works can be seen around the main dining area and round corners into smaller spaces too. The menu offering 3 courses for €52 seemed at first more than we wanted to eat, but it was exceptionally good value for such a truly delicious meal. Even the bread brought to the table was home-made and we then went on to enjoy root vegetable salad or tortellini, pike perch or duck, grilled apple and ice cream or liquorice crème brûlée, with tea or coffee thrown in. The waiter took time to tell us about Finne and some of his sculptures, was really attentive - and we even overtook that big party which almost put us off staying to dine! Thank goodness we stayed - I don’t often use the word exquisite; but this little restaurant away from the hustle and bustle of the station and it’s environs can’t be recommended enough.

When you get in to Ateljee Finne you will first see the unique atmosphere this restaurant has to offer you. Then you will be taken full care off with the brilliant service. Their three-dish menu is really affordable and superb compared to the price and there is great amount of different options to choose from meat, fish, vegan etc. The food was great and the wines were paired nicely with the food. Will definitely visit again!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect choice for relaxed dinner
It doesn't matter if you want to have a romantic dinner with your partner or you want to get relaxed on your own after a long week, Atelje Finne is a perfect choice. Although it is located at the Kamppi area which is a populous area in general, Atelje Finne is isolated from the chaos of the city. It serves high, modern Scandinavian food which will surely please you. For 49€, I got a three-course meal which is definitely an acceptable number. Grilled oyster mushroom with fennel and roasted yeast as the starter, Pike perch with fingerling potato and buttermilk-roe sauce as the main course, and Lemon “vispipuuro” with raspberry sorbet as the dessert along with an espresso made my day. I should note that all of those had some kind of sourness, which I think is a general pattern in the foods served here. However, this isn't something negative indeed they were so successful in combining that sourness with different flavours and presenting you tasty foods. The service and the atmosphere were like they should be. You can easily get used to it and feel relaxed which is an essential feeling for me to truly enjoy the food. The positive mood of staff was also contributed that atmosphere and they deserve praising for sure.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place
Good menu, even though simple ingredients. Pike was excellent, and the blue cheese with port. They have a wide wine list with classic, old-world wines, end the atmosphere is very fine. It’s designed by the sculptor Gunnar Finne in 20’s for his own ateljé.

Be the first to ReplyGood dinner
Our group of 10 people had successful dinner here. Ambiance is chic. Service is very polite. Food is delicious, but menu portions could be a bit bigger -especially the main course.
Overall a very good dinner.
As good as it is
The quality was great, its one of my favorites. Highly recommentable. It was almost empty on aWednesday evening? We wonder why? Thats why I write this review. We had tartar for a starter, great! Fresh bread! Great fish of the day, fine wines.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely delicious!
We came for a dinner with family. We went for the three course meal, but you still get to choose what you’re having from the ala carte menu. I had the mushroom starter, tenderloin as my main and oat cake and goat cheese dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious and prepared to perfection. The steak was the best I’ve had in a few years, absolutely melt in your mouth tender.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere as well, relaxed but everything worked extremely well at the same time. Our waiter/sommelier was great as well and recommended really good wines for us.
Really enjoyed our visit and will be back for sure!
Creative cuisine
Unusual and inspired flavour combinations. Attentive and friendly service. A romantic atmosphere. Very special.
Be the first to ReplyCompliments to the chef are not enough!!
Visited here with a friend who lives locally whilst I was in town for work.
After a long day in the office the place was everything I could ask for in a restaurant.
Yes the menu is not extensive, but sometimes too much choice is too much!
The mushroom starter was superb, the fish of the day dish excellent and as for the chocolate dessert, wow wow wow!
The staff too were great - helpful in both Finnish and perfect English for me - the wine recommendations were spot on, and to be honest the prices very good for such beautifully presented food.
Would I return - you bet and for my waistline it is probably just as well this is not local for me!
Superb
A last minute booking but what a result! The food was tasty and beautifully presented, the staff stayed in the background but answered all our questions and their recommendations were helpful. We had three courses and all 6 of us were more than delighted with our food. For Finland the wine was reasonably priced.
