They were very accommodating and sat us without a reservation. The lamb, chicory and pasta were amazing. Very knowledgeable about their extensive wine list. Great spot in a very touristy area

Definitely make a reservation for this restaurant! We did not but we got pretty lucky - we lined up minutes after they opened for the night and were able to get a reservation for a couple hours later. We were the last couple to get a table for the night. As a vegetarian that also has an egg allergy, I was worried I wouldn't have any options here. I was wrong! Unfortunately I only had one option since most of the pastas had meat in the sauce. I ordered the black truffle pasta and it was out of this world! The pasta was super delicious and the portion sizes were satisfying. The pasta was a little too al dente for me but otherwise very flavorful and truffle filled! My husband ordered the rigatoni and the cod fish and loved both! I also ordered the chicory and it was SO delicious!

We went here for our first dinner of our first trip to Rome back in June 2023. We still talk about the Veal dish to this day! The restaurant is small and cozy. I worried about it being touristy since it's steps away from the Pantheon but everyone seated around us was Italian. A very good sign. We started with the bruschetta which had buffalo mozzarella. That sparked our obsession with Buffalo Mozzarella and ruined all other Mozzarella for us. I had the Carbonara which was excellent. It'd say it was one of the best we had in Rome. My husband ordered a Veal dish that, if I remember correctly, was a special. It was probably one of the most delicious dishes we've ever had. I've scoured the internet trying to figure out what that dish was so I could attempt to make it at home. No luck. Armando's is a must try when you're in Rome! Don't forget to make a reservation ahead of time.
Be the first to ReplyWow! Carbonara lived up to Tucci/Netflix hype.
Service was amazing! Wine guy amazing! We booked a reservation and I made a mistake on the day. They took care of us anyway and were super nice. Italians in general I think based on our trip, can take or leave us Americans but these guys were super nice and the food was incredible.
Be the first to ReplyThis was our first time dining at Armando al Pantheon.
A small family-owned restaurant, it has been run by the Gargioli family since 1961 and serves authentic homemade Roman classics. The past dishes and braised veal shanks were to die for. Reservations should be made 30 days out to ensure you can grab one of the few tables. The views of the Pantheon won't dissapoint. We will be back - your friends at Jetsetz.com.
Be the first to ReplyMust reserve exactly a month in advance.
Good service. Historic restaurant. Good cocktails. For food, we liked Enoteca Capranica (nearby) better.
Be the first to ReplyWe made reservations 30 days in advance.
Service was very good. Food was fresh and simple. We got veal dish and pasta. It was good. Nice ambiance and perfect location
Be the first to ReplyThis place totally blew me away.
.. Everything was a wow.. I had never had Mozzarella de Buffalo before... it was amazing... slightly tangy... very moist.. the pastas were done perfectly. It is tough to get a reservation, but it is worth it.. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Rome

First of all, big "thank you" to management for accommodating our delays for our reservation! My wife and I truly enjoyed every aspect of our meal!! Their service was impeccable and recommendation for wine was perfect. Every time we visit Rome we will always visit! Mile Grazie ( my wife had the Carbonara and I had the Cacio Pepe .... Best ever!)
Be the first to ReplyCarbonara was amazing.
They were full for the evening but we managed to get in later at night with no wait. Service was great!

We stayed very closed to this establishment but only once had a dinner there at the end of our vacation. I wish we would have discovered this place earlier - delicious food, great service, excellent location.
Be the first to ReplyThe real deal.
This is traditional Roman in the heart of Rome. Make a reservation well in advance of your planned visit; or wait at the door and ask if you can get seated (maybe yes, maybe no - they'll try). It's well worth it for authentic Roman. Only your mama can do it better.
Be the first to ReplyWe had lunch on weekday without reservations at 1 pm.
Luckily got a seat in 5 minutes. Dined outside with a view of the Pantheon. Great service and food. A bit pricier than the usual places but the meal portions were generous. We forgot to order main dish at half portion (70% price). Cheese cake (ricotta) in attachment was wow. Chicory was okay. Bread is from Roscioli - great. Buffalo Mozzarella was juicy but tougher than at Osteria da Fortunata (our favorite during our stay). Roasted potatoes were great. We ordered various appetizers and only one main dish (lamb). Lamb was great. Don't mind dining again, but would not consider this to die for.
Be the first to ReplyBest meal I've ever had.
We had the mozzarella and artichoke appetizer (as an American, and not well-travelled, this sounded odd to me--if you're like me, go for it!!), rigatoni, a beef and arugula dish, and roast potatoes. Every single thing was divine. My husband is not a pasta lover, but he said this was the best pasta he's ever had. This ticked all the boxes--amazing food, great ambiance, friendly service. Finished the meal with an espresso and ricotta cake. Thank you for a memorable experience!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food.
Everything is good there. This is our second time going, we went back in 2018 as well and it was our favorite restaurant of the trip. I saw it featured on Stanley Tucci's Italy show recently and was so impressed. Personally I felt a bit out of place because they aren't overly friendly if you aren't Italian, but I noticed that in a lot of places in Italy and had to learn to accept the difference. Delicious meal. Make a reservation online exactly 30 days before you want to visit, walk ins are typically not welcome.

As a result, it is very difficult to get into. My best advice is to try it for lunch. We stood in line and got lucky. The food is worth the wait. The famous Amatriciana and Caccio Pepe were both the best we had.The Oxtail Rabbit and Veal were on the table too.All great. Oxtail was the best. Service. All of the people are great. However, you will need to be patient here. This is a small place surrounded by some well deserved hype. It's got a humble vibe and small kitchen. It's going to take a while. This is the best meal we had in Rome. But don't despair if you can't get in. Rome has great food.

We arrived before opening & were accommodated sans reservation on a Saturday night. loved that you were able to order half portions for all of the Roman classic dishes. Pasta was perfectly Al dente and came off right from the stove. The carbonara sauce was over portioned to the amount of noodles and eggs slightly scrambled. We had a good experience but feel that there are plenty of other pasta restaurants in rome to try before coming back that don't require months of reservation.

Frequented original foodies, world renowned chefs, restaurateurs, celebrities, & professional athletes. And for good reason, this will be some of the very best Roman cuisine you'll ever try. Armando di Pantheon is included in every Top 10 restaurant list in Rome, it's not even close to a tourist trap. Now open Saturday nights, still closed Sundays and August. It's hard to book because it's small. Book online, but if they are fully booked stop by before lunch or dinner and snag a spot that someone didn't show up for, you could be lucky!I can honestly recommend everything, but please don't miss on:Saltimbocca alla RomanaVeal wrapped with prosciutto and sage, cooked and marinated in white wineRigatoni all'AmatricianaShort pasta with tomato sauce, pecorino cheese, guanciale (pork cheeks) and black pepperAnd the Carbonara!
Be the first to ReplyAn absolutely delicious meal at Armando Al Pantheon.
Would definitely recommend having a reservation as this spot fills up extremely quickly. The Aperol spritz were refreshing. Not only was the food delicious, the service wonderful, but also the view on the pantheon was breathtaking. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely fantastic! If you need a restaurant suggestion for some great carbonara, this is it!
Be the first to ReplyBy far one of greatest meals of my 45 years of life .
I heard about this place by watching Searching for Italy the show with Stanley Tucci, we happen to watch it a few weeks before are planned trip to Rome, I knew then I needed to try this place. I informed myself on how to find a way to get a reservation and had no luck at all there book for months . But I never gave up and stood my ground and decided to go anyways and try in person . Glad we did, happens we had a planned a evening to visits the famous Trevi Fountain and saw that the Pantheon was only a few blocks away so I took it as our chance to get to dine here . As soon as we walk up you can see the line of people waiting outside . As I walk up notice a sign on door there all booked up . I ask the people in line and there say there waiting for cancellations . So I ask the host/waiter if there any chance on a table,he told me no tables and had already a list of people waiting, I pleaded with him I'm was on vacation and it's my last night in Rome if there any possible way please . He told me hold on I'll see what I can do he said be patience. And I'm grateful i was . Took around 45 minutes but totally worth it . We get seated and I knew what I wanted so did my wife as my daughters . They are known for the all"Amatriciana with guanciale, and there pasta al carbonara, and caicio e pepe, we order all three and a bottle of wine there wine sommelier recommend base on dishes we where eating . One word (pure bliss) in every bite . A true and traditional trattoria the serves Roman cuisine to the finest quality . I still remember how happy we where eating our meals truly a wonderful memory for me . Food is 100/10 plus plus !! If in Rome this will be my go to place for sure .

Stones throw from Rome's most intact ancient monument, Armando al Pantheon is the champions of local food culture for more than five decades and had a recent worthy mention on wine spectator's "101 reasons we love Italy".The Gargioli family has been dutifully producing Roman classics like spaghetti ajo ojo e peperoncino (spaghetti with garlic, oil, and chile) and coda alla vaccinara (oxtail braised in tomato and celery). Among the seasonal side dishes, look for puntarelle (Catalonian chicory) with anchovy sauce and carciofi alla romana (simmered artichokes) in the cooler months. The thinly sliced veal with pancetta was cooked perfect.Reservation is a must and books up) one month ahead. We called on the same day to try to get our names on the list and we are the first to line up at around noon (restaurant opens at 12:30). We scored one of the 5 tables outdoors at around 1pm.

The food was great. Location superb. Would definitely recommend.

After four days in Rome, we are still talking about our excellent meal here. I would typically stay away from restaurants so near a major tourist destination, but on Stanley Tucci's recommendation, we went. We did not book a table, so we were delighted to wait for only 30 or so minutes on a Wednesday night and to be seated. We ordered the buffalo mozzarella and two mista salads for our party of four. The tomatoes on the bruschetta served with the cheese were absolutely delicious. I could eat a bowl full of them alone. We also each had pasta; a la gricia, a l'amatriciana, carbonara & cacio e pepe. All exceptionally good. The guanciale melts in your mouth and each pasta was cooked to perfection. I think my favorite was the amatriciana, but I may need to go back and eat them again just to be sure. A lovely, and reasonably priced bottle of local white wine went well with all of our meals and was served and described by the sommelier. We saved ourself for gelato on the plaza and left happy, full, and marveling at how reasonable the bill was. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyThis was one of my favorite meals in Rome.
Be aware if you want to eat here you HAVE TO make a reservation on their website. I booked 2 months out for a lunch and tried the rest of the week to get back for another meal but was unsuccessful. We tried the special bruschetta which had chicory, fava beans and peas on it.We did the cacio y pepe and Carbonara pastas.Prepared to perfection and for desert we did the tiramisu and maritozzo filled with gelatto.Service was fantastic and the food was exceptional. Yes, this place was featured in the Stanley Tucci : Searching for Italy series.Well worth the time to make a reservation and experience this place !
