We came here for the Top Chef Season Finale watch party and met our fellow foodie Austinites. What an amazing experience to try new dishes, inspired by the episode and be "one team" watching / analyzing / guessing the result of Season 21. Favorite dish was the smoked hiramasa crudo. Unexpected brightness from the Aleppo pepper. The combination of watermelon and fresh fish is a perfect summer treat. Great staff, awesome group of "new friends" and an experience for the ages!
The smoked crudo is amazing.
Heavy on salt and olive oil. The smoke and a little bit of heat cuts through the sour plum and watermelon. Favorite thing I have eaten in a long time. I am not so happy with the savory corn pasta. It lacked body, salt, and didn't have a discerning flavor other than the corn nuts which had some smokiness. Really, it lacks a bit of sauce for me--seems like it needed more because the pasta stuck together in a lump. I sat at the bar and the service was amazing. The bartender seemed to know the menu when I asked questions. The service was fast and attentive.

This was such an experience for us! Our waiter was top notch and the food was unreal. Everything we ordered was so good. My husband wanted to try it out for Father's Day. Typically we always go to Chili's so this was way fancier than any place we've been to. Totally recommend and can't wait to visit again.

I'm a fan of Krishten and Top Chef, having watched every season religiously. I believe Krishten has filled Padma's shoes beautifully. In addition to her experience, Krishten is charismatic and has a wonderful presence. With this in mind, folks, what a disappointment! I sincerely hope my experience was a rarity, an accident, or just my bad luck... Here's what happened: My wife and son took me to Arlo for my birthday - it was a surprise. We were all excited to taste the delicious menu. I had high expectations, as always, for all the right reasons. I anticipated a positive, impressive, welcoming, elegant, and of course, delicious experience. It was not. The host barely made eye contact with my wife when we arrived. She was busy writing notes. Hmm, okay, it happens. I'm sure it was something important. But hosts should always welcome guests, make eye contact, and smile, right? She walked us to our table and gently removed the extra dish and silverware since there were only three of us. I noticed a note left on the table. It was addressed to me, wishing me a happy birthday from the staff. It was signed by the staff and Krishten (a printed signature) - a nice touch. A few minutes later, our waiter arrived, and after the usual introductions, took our drinks and appetizer order. We selected the burrata. The cucumber broth overpowered the dish; you could barely taste the cheese, and the tomatoes were partially burnt. While we waited for our order (malfaldine pasta, butter-roasted halibut, and a burger with fries for my little one), we started paying attention to the décor of the restaurant. I immediately noticed the frames hanging on the walls featuring numerous notes by Krishten. Notes for menus, recipes, etc. were glued into shadowbox frames. The framing looked cheap (typical shadowboxes you can pick up at any art shop) and did not match anything in the restaurant. The blue chandeliers stand out like a sore thumb...nothing special about the place. An hour went by, and we still had not been served our food. "Happy Birthday"? My malfaldine was just bad. I could taste the white wine in the sauce, the mushrooms weren't cooked consistently--some were raw while others were burnt, and some felt like gummy bears in consistency. I took one bite and pushed the dish away. My wife's dish was just as bad. The halibut was partially cooked, it smelled bad, and the farro was raw. Lastly, my son asked me to taste the fries... oh my goodness, they were so salty I had to wash them down with a glass of water. "...menu designed to nourish the soul." More like "...designed to ruin your experience" In the end, I regretfully rate my experience a 1 out of 5 due to the bad food, sub-standard service, and unpleasant venue--especially disappointing on my birthday (I threw away the card). I do not plan to return to this "Top Chef" restaurant ever again. Sorry, Krishten; I know you can do better.

-Maple glazed cauliflower -Crispy rice -Mushroom pasta -Organic half chicken -Pork chop Service was great; everyone was attentive & knowledgeable about the menu. The chicken was a bit salty but our favorites were the crispy rice & pork chop. Overall, a good dining experience & tasty food but this didn't stand out enough to make me want to go back.
I wish I could give this restaurant a higher rating as I
I wish I could give this restaurant a higher rating as I admire Kristen Kish, but despite the beautiful atmosphere and underlying celebrity status, there were a few things that I felt were left wanting. Starting off with the good things: the ambiance is incredible. The restaurant is located on the first floor of the LINE Hotel, and everything is so elegant and beautifully furnished. The server who brought us our food was very sweet, and she took her time explaining the concepts behind each dish to us. And the nicest surprise was a handwritten welcome card on our table from Chef Alex and the restaurant team, wishing my boyfriend a happy birthday (which is why we made reservations). However, when we were actually seated, the server who took our orders (separate from the person who brought us our food) was polite enough but brusque, and my water cup went empty several times during the service. The food was also overall tasty, but each dish felt slightly underwhelming for one reason or another. We tried: - Tuna Crudo (3/5): Made with tuna, strawberry, basil, and black garlic oil, the components were delicious individually, but not harmonious together - Bucatini (3/5): I wanted to love this because of all the savory corn ingredients, which I love, but the pasta was dry and one-note in flavor - Crispy Rice (4/5): Texture was off in some areas but no other complaints, I love crispy rice! - 16 oz Grilled Berkshire Porkchop (4/5): You get a GENEROUS portion here - my partner enjoyed this dish - Cinnamon Butter Cake (1/5): Sounds great in theory, but the cake was incredibly dry, small, and flavorless. The best part was the mascarpone on the side, but this was a huge let down for me. I would still encourage a visit for the ambiance and the experience of trying the food; despite the shortcomings, my partner and I still had a great time.

I loved everything about this place, the aesthetic, the food and the service were great. The wagyu doesn't look big in the photo but it was huge. Was able to try the wagyu, swordfish, crispy rice, burrata, and one of their pastas and the seasoning was perfect for each dish. It is a bit pricey but would definitely recommend for a date night or treat yourself meal. Our hostess, yeaji, was great, she explained everything so well and gave very good recommendations! Has a nice view of the congress bridge.

Ambiance: located in the main area of the Line Hotel, the open space houses decor that is dark and moody with gorgeous views. Service: We were lucky to get Trista, who was just a gem. She was attentive, genuine, personable and knowledgeable with a clear passion for food. Everything came out so quickly, including drinks. Food: all of it was beautiful, delicious and intentional. The menu is intended to be shared family style with 2-3 dishes recommended per person. We had a pretty big lunch but still ended up ordering 4 dishes. - Tuna crudo: what an interesting blend of sweet and savory with fresh tuna, strawberries and basil. The kohlrabi gave a nice crunch for some texture. - Crispy Rice: true to its name, it was delightfully crispy, even after mixing the bowl and topping with lemon. Something about it felt so homey and comforting to me while still being an elevated dish. - Malfaldini: a simple but tasty pasta cooked perfectly al dente. - Rabbit & ricotta dumplings: reminiscent of a gnocchi soaked in rabbit jus, light and pillowy. The rabbit was cut into strips and was tender and tasty. Valet parking is available through the hotel, some parking garages nearby, limited street parking as well.
A generous 5-star review because I would go back and try
A generous 5-star review because I would go back and try the things I didn't order, and order again the things I loved! Right near the foot of the north end of the Congress Bridge, with amazing river views, inside a chic hotel. Chef Kish was not present, but the food was still amazing. Dining here made me feel like I was back in California, not Texas! If I were to return, I would try the wagyu next time. -Grilled Texas beets. Delicious! Might not order again because the other dishes were much more amazing. -Confit duck and dumplings. The duck was delicious and the sauce was divine. But the dumplings were just okay. -Mafaldini pasta with champignon sauce, dehydrated/rehydrated button mushrooms, pearl onions, parmesan. DELICIOUS! Would order again and again, and would also try the bucatini next time because we didn't do a second pasta. -Crispy rice with saffron aioli, crab, bacon, cucumber, cilantro, haricot vert aka french green beans. I am a sucker for crispy rice! Would order again, but I think I can recreate this at home since I love crispy rice! -Steamed halibut and sunchoke. Delicate and tasty fish but the sunchoke was the star!

I feel like for an upscale restaurant I didn't get the experience that you get at other upscale restaurants in Austin. The menu had weird choices that didn't go together. I would skip this place
Great Food, Worth the Attitude at checkin
Top Chef Kristen Kish's food doesn't disappoint, but the check in staff sure does. We arrived 20 minutes early for a reservation. The restaurant was only 60% full. However, the staff had that snooty attitude that we'll make you wait because we are hot stuff. So, we sat in the lobby for 25 more minutes until they called us in. They were still only 70% full. Once we got past those shenanigans, it was time to order and we had some great stuff. on the menu. The server and the wait staff were amazing. Burrata was excellent. Good texture, great creaminess and wonderful flavor. What was even better was the smokiness of the grilled sourdough. Thickly cut and properly toasted, the bread had a texture and al dente quality that was hard to beat. Mafladini was cooked to perfection. The mushrooms reduced and dried and reconstituted were packed full of flavor. The pasta was amazingly al dente and well coated with the mushroom sauce. The star of the show was the Berkshire Pork Chop. It was so good, that you wanted to enjoy every last morsel and the bone. We had the pistachio mousse for dessert and that had an amazing range of flavor and lightness all in one.
We came here for Valentine's Day and did the Yurt
We came here for Valentine's Day and did the Yurt experience and honestly it left a lot to desire. The food was salty, the service was slow, there was no music or ambiance when you sat outside in the yurt. I generally trust online reviews but I'm not sure what happened here. We did the tasting menu and not only was it not great it was EXPENSIVE $900 for four people in austin with no alcohol is INSANE. We had a rabbit croquet dish that still had bones in it? The bison dish was overcooked. Surprisingly the best parts were the off menu items. I wouldn't come back. It is too expensive for what you get.

I'm very happy we decided to try this place out after a movie! I called the restaurant and was able to get a seat at 8:45 pm on a Saturday evening. Our server was nice, but I'd say the overall staff are a little stiff. The hostess wasn't super friendly or inviting, but they weren't rude. I did have to ask for water multiple times although it wasn't like I was ignored and the waitress never asked if we wanted another drink. I love the vibe of the restaurant. Dark, moody, intimate, and the decor were simple and modern. Great for a date or small group dinner. The food was on point! The burrata was delish with all the components with the bread. The pasta was also perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Would have liked it if it came out with the burrata so we could dip the bread in the sauce or had it with the steak. The steak was also perfectly tender, well seasoned, and at the right medium rare. All the sides that came with it were also great. If the ribeye had a little more fat trimmed off, that would have been preferred as we don't like fatty pieces of meat, but the pieces with small bits of fat on the end tasted great. Now, the dessert was likely the cherry on top of the whole meal. I love desserts where multiple flavors are put together and all of those flavors combine on top of a spoon and just sing together. It was amazing. The perfect amount of sweet and savory and just enough. I could have eaten a whole other plate of the mousse with the fruit and jelly alone. Overall, I had a great time. Bill was as expected, given we each had a drink as well. Looking forward to going back again some time soon.
Everything about this place is great.
Beautiful atmosphere and decor, great service, and amazing food. Their pork chop was delicious but their halibut and beurre blanc sauce is to die for (and is unfortunately only seasonal). We actually didn't love the crispy rice (which was recommended) but will still be back to try more dishes!
It's been a while since I've been back for Arlo Grey's
It's been a while since I've been back for Arlo Grey's dinner service. I can say confidently nothing has changed. The service, ambiance and food are still top quality. I started my night with a garden margarita. The best way to explain, it tasted like a green juice water with a spicy kick. It's very refreshing. None of the proteins caught my attention so we ended up ordering the special tuna crudo, the burrata, the crispy rice, bucatini and my favorite the malfadini. For a "bite" portion the tuna crudo came with 3 large pieces of tuna and was a great bite. The burrata was fantastic chargrilled sourdough toast with this delicious cold burrata and mushroom spread! Out of the 3 grains the bucatini was my least favorite. The crispy rice was good. I wish it had more crab and bacon. However the Malfadini was still the same form when I first had it on opening weekend. Buttery cheesy in a delicious mushroom sauce. The pasta is delicious. Arlo grey is a greta spot for group dinners or an intimate date night! Also it's really cool to chef Kristen in the back cooking and bringing food to her tables!
Creative, New Level of Deliciousness
Outstanding food. Takes various items to a new level of deliciousness. Most items are sharable. We shared the pork chop, along with several smaller dishes. Pleasant setting, on Congress by Lady Bird Lake. Service was very good.
Allergies disregarded
In spite of the server taking detailed notes on my allergies, we were served a dish which in the menu said it had a cream sauce with onions, but which actually contains shellfish. I had to use my epipen and take four Benadryl to stop the anaphylaxis I was experiencing. The waiter did not bring it to the manager’s attention and when we did on our way out, he instead made a lot of excuses and tried to place blame with me. Fortunately my guests heard me tell the waiter I had that allergy and another guest had ordered the same dish and as concerned about what she was tasting, as the sauce also had roe in it from a different fish which I also said I was allergic to (and which was also not listed on the menu’s description. There is nothing worse than not knowing if you are going to survive to see your children again when anaphylaxis starts, and it still makes me cry to even write this review. It wasn’t even the only food served to us with something I had listed as being allergic to. In hindsight, I probably have stopped eating at all when I saw something in the salad, but I simply trusted.
I always want to go to Arlo Grey.
I really love this place and try to visit often. The last time I visited was for a business dinner. The restaurant is located at the start of downtown in a hotel on lady bird lake and is easy to get to, plus they have discounted valet when you dine. The staff is friendly, informative and passionate about what they do. Shout out to Bran! They always take care of me and make me feel like a Queen! The decor is hip and easy (even the bathrooms have an amazing art installation!) The food---- man, oh man the food. Whimsical, eye catching and layers of delicious. I don't like mushrooms and I am not a big fan of pasta. Yet their malfadini is hands down my favorite dish there! (Apparently, it's Kristen's signature dish!) Some of the menu slowly changes with the seasons so, every time you visit you can experience a little different. The bar will make you anything your heart desires and can create a drink you didn't even know you desired, plus their signature cocktails are simply the best. This place ruins it for alot of other restaurants around town because... I always want to go to Arlo Grey and I'll never pass up a chance to.
Great yurt experience if you don't let the bitchy hostess
Great yurt experience if you don't let the bitchy hostess ruin your evening. The vegetarian option was phenomenal. The dessert was not great. Service was amazing. Again the hostess was a complete hag!

We decided to stay at the hotel so we could try to make reservations at this restaurant. Thankfully they had some availability. The restaurant is bright, clean and a lot of open windows with nice views of the river. Their drinks are smooth and balanced. The plates are definitely shareable and once you pick a few your server will let you know how the courses will come out. We were both really impressed by the entire staff and how they were not only warm and friendly but explained the flavors of each dish really well. The crispy rice is a must ! I read in an article that Kristen knows how to cook with mushrooms well and it's true because I loved them in the Fried buns.
Fantastic food, service, with a view of lady bird lake.
They have an outdoor pool next door that hosts events and p9 rooftop bar is also connected.
I've been here a few times over the years, and I'm glad I
I've been here a few times over the years, and I'm glad I revisited again. The must get dish is the Fried Steamed Buns with charred eggplant! It was so delicious that we ordered another one. The steamed buns did all the heavy lifting because they tasted like they were seared, and it's not your regular kind of dough. You'll see. We also had the Burrata, Crispy Rice, Confit Duck & Dumplings, Steamed Swordfish, and Honey Roasted Half Chicken. The Confit Duck & Dumplings is essentially gnocchi, but we were expecting the traditional Asian dumplings stuffed with duck meat, so that was the most disappointing dish. Crispy Rice was simply crusty rice over vegetables. A bit blend. The Burrata was pretty much industry standard, and the Swordfish and Chicken were both just okay. I'm giving it a 4 star because the ambiance is great plus comfortable booth seats (Always a plus in my books!). For some reason, we had to ask for water refills multiple times with our server. He was not very attentive. Everyone enjoyed their drinks: The Den, Old Fashioned, Tea Thyme, and Manhattan. For dessert, we had Toasted Sourdough Ice Cream and (I think) Cinnamon Butter Cake. They were both really delicious, but we were too stuffed from the Fried Steamed Buns, we couldn't finish. Plus it was on the house since it was a birthday celebration dinner.
A delightful dinner experience
Arlo Grey is an amazing blend of midwest comfort food with a delightful Asian flair. The entire staff was excellent with anticipating our needs and explaining and recommending dishes. Darla our server recommended the sourdough starter and I’m so thankful they did! Originally that wasn’t on our list and that was one of my favorite dishes! The cocktails were extremely fun and the wine selection was wonderful and we cannot wait to visit again!

Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!
