🙂 4/5 - Patio tables lined up out front on the sidewalk on a busy

Patio tables lined up out front on the sidewalk on a busy street corner. Indoors the dining room on the bar side is to the right of the host stand and the room has a classy, laid back atmosphere. In the dining room to the left of the host stand the air is stuffy and the patterned wallpaper gives the room an old fashioned tea room vibe. Both rooms can get noisy because of the high ceilings. The restrooms are the same as the old Tavern with a shared sink area for men and women. The food is predictably expensive and there's a 5% charge added for health care. We get it, they want us to know they provide health insurance - rah rah - it's the decent thing for a restaurant of its caliber to do for their employees. And when you're okay paying $20 for a cocktail, paying 5% more means nothing and is not a big deal, but unless they pay for 100% of their workers' insurance, igniting the politics of the matter by writing it in bold on the menu only provokes ignorant people to feel they're being nickel-and-dimed. We overheard an older (and clearly very wealthy) person at the table next to us say when they opened the menu, "there goes 5% of their tip". Right in front of their server and another member of staff. The presentation of the food is colorful and appetizing. This week the salmon ($38, 6oz of salmon) was served on top of shaved carrots and radishes which were seasoned perfectly with salt and pepper but were swimming in olive oil. The rustic boule with salted butter ($6) isn't a round loaf, it's 4 thick slices of tasty, lightly grilled bread. The entree salads seemed overpriced for the amount served but the ingredients were high quality. The bacon wrapped dates are always great. Wanted to order dessert but an hour after being seated and no customers waiting for tables, one of the servers dropped the check and disappeared without offering dessert, coffee, or anything else.
