Tasty French bistro food in a relaxed setting
The restaurant serves ably prepared French bistro food in a relaxed setting. (In addition to enjoying our chosen dishes, we were impressed to discover that, even at 7 p.m., the accompanying bread tasted bakery-fresh.) The wine list has a good range of choices and prices. On our visit, the service was attentive without being intrusive. Our main waiter, Matthieu, was very helpful. We hope to return soon and bring friends to enjoy this gem of an eatery.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is West Village location...there are two
There are two locations.. Upper West Side and West Village. The address is incorrect in this listing. Indeed I dined at the UWS location during Restaurant Week last summer and reviewed my very positive experience. This time we tried the $3O 3-courae Prix fixe lunch..see pic of menu. Was a good value, nice choices, tasty dishes, and excellent service.
Be the first to ReplyAdequate Food Quality
The food quality was adequate, not especially good or bad. We sat outside, which was nice. But I need to warn customers about their layers of charges. The wine was way up-charged, which seems to be common and we are used to that. But they have a little statement on the menu that there is a 4% surcharge for the use of credit cards. And then when I used a card, the hand-held charge machine gave me an option of a tip that started at 20%. By that time it all seemed too much, so I did not leave happily. Too bad.

Stumbled upon this after a long day setting up to trade at the FoodFest, Olivia was an amazing host, made us feel very welcome and checked on us to make sure all was ok. Highly recommended.

Delicious French cafe food. Also during COVID excellent outside service. Now same delicious food inside or outside. Really good small plates or more. Good wine, lovely adult atmosphere..
Be the first to ReplyFood was good, service terrific, noise was deafening
The food was terrific, and the wait staff oh so kind (and had clearly had it with the party next to me and doing their best to move them along). To say these women were loud would be an understatement. One women literally yelled at the top of her lungs endlessly. Maybe she was drunk but it was only 6pm. I don’t fault the restaurant at all, but I couldn’t get out of there fast enough which was a shame because I wanted to enjoy my meal. I couldn’t. Will I try it again? Maybe?

a little bit of France in Greenwich Village. All the staff spoke French. Excellent service. The food was quite good. Had the grilled octopus, and a burger. All prepared to perfection. Highly recommend We happened to be there Halloween night, and they had a candy dish for the trick or treaters that were dressed up and came by. Nice touch !
Be the first to ReplyDelicious French Dining in Greenwich Village
My wife and I had dinner at this authentic French restaurant in Greenwich Village. We ate outdoors on the street so I cannot comment on the indoor decor. The menu was extensive with classic French dishes done to perfection, but lighter fare than traditional French cuisine. We enjoyed it. My coq au vin had a tasty, moist chicken served with a delicate sauce with vegetables and lardons. My wife had a French onion soup that she rated the very best she’s ever had. In short our meals were everything we could have expected and more. We would definitely return.

Very nice French food close to the Village. Very nice hot camembert and red pepper soup, along with deep fried cauliflower and steak tartare, all very tasty. Good value and friendly service.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect private party
We attended a wedding reception at Amelie on Sunday, September 4th. Since it was a private event, the menu was limited to two appetizers, three entrees and two desserts. I tasted all of the offerings and all were superb! First course for all was a salad with a disc of fried brie on top. It was really wonderful and kicked off the meal brilliantly. App choices were shrimp sautéed with peppers and corn and a burrata plate. The shrimp were great but the burrata was simply divine! Incredible. Main course offerings were as follows: Duck, roast chicken or branzino. My selection was the fish, which was served with fingerling potatoes and green beans. I had bites of the chicken and the duck and all were fantastic. Dessert choices were a chocolate mousse and a banana crème brûlée. Both were wonderful, though the bananas kind of were a distraction from the delicious crème brûlée. The champagne and wine offerings were perfect, and the proprietor and the whole staff were welcoming and professional.

This excellent venue was picked for family birthday celebration. Food is delicious here and we tried most of the menu :) duck pate was just 10/10.. highly recommended. Do not skip wine :)
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic French lunch, good value, great service
We had lunch an Amelie 2 weeks ago. We shared a Cheese plate and the Chicken sandwich, with a tasting flight of white wines. Good value, great service. It just felt authentic.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect place for happy hour wine
Came here on a Tuesday night to catch up with some old coworkers in a place that was between all of our offices and where we needed to go later at night. What an amazing surprise just off of Washington Square Park.
The happy hour special is really centered around the wine flights you can get for $13 -- which cover three half-glasses of wine. There are eight flights you can choose from to experience a specific type of wine you'd enjoy (for example, there's a flight of just dry white wines, another for full-body reds, and one for even sparkling wines).
The happy hour menu also has some good options for food, but the baked camembert with honey and roasted garlic was just amazing.
The area was lively, but not too noisy that you couldn't hear the conversation of your group. Just the right place to go to unwind after work and catch up among friends.
Excellent Wine Bar
We had spent the morning walking around New York & were looking for somewhere to have a quick bite to eat. Luckily we found Amelie which was a brilliant place. After a very refreshing G&T we chose the baked camembert & a plate of charcuterie. The food was excellent, beautifully presented & just what we want. The service was excellent & it was just a shame we couldn't have a "proper" meal there as we were going out that night & didn't want to spoil our appetites. It was perfect for what we wanted.
Be the first to ReplySuperb!
For years I wanted to return to Paris just to taste again the coq au vin and I found it really excellent in this delightful Greenwich village restaurant . The soup of the day (topinambour) was delicious and well balanced. Wine list is quite extensive. I do recommend it.
Merci beaucoup Amelie pour cette magnifique soirée
A bit of Paris in the Village
This French bistro is friendly, bustling, and fun. Our food was excellent. My husband raved about his salmon, and of course, we both loved the warm pistachio goat cheese. I thought the Amelie spritz was delicious, and would return just for that!

This will forever be my favorite wine bar. Go for happy hour Monday-Thursday 5-6pm for wine and cheese. Dinner on a weekend also will not disappoint. A perfect date spot. Small, inmate, and dimly lit. Make a reservation!

While spending the day walking through NYC we happened upon this place for lunch. What an incredible find. We count ourselves so lucky that we came down this street. We had a beautiful afternoon sipping wine, people watching and eating amazing food. We got the charcuterie plate with two cheeses and the jambon. The display was beautiful and classy, the food exquisite. We hope to be back again.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent French restaurant in West Village
It’s another beautiful day in NYC and had to write a review for this French restaurant in this West Village area. It’s a small and very cozy restaurant. The foods and services are great! There are tables in the outdoor area. We had Burgundy escargots Gratines for appetizer, followed with Pan seared Brook Trout, Hudson Valley Duck Leg Confit, and Poulet Au Riesling for main courses, and French wine. All were very good as expected. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent French restaurant without the pretentiousness
This is just plain good. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. They are set up well for outside dining. The service is friendly and prompt. There is a very good, reasonable wine list. But go for the food. Nothing fancy, no heavy sauces. Simple delicious plates that will fill you up and leave you satisfied. Well worth a visit
Be the first to ReplyAmazing French food and wine
My food friend was eyeing this place and I'm so glad we stopped by. At first I was thinking how does a French restaurant with wine have so many reviews in NY, but Amelie did not disappoint. We ordered the lobster risotto, duck leg confit, octopus and escargot. Plenty of food for 4 people. The risotto was great in texture and had a fair amount of labor. The duck was cooked perfectly. Crispy skin on the outside and fall off the bone meat on the inside. The grilled octopus and escargot are a must order as well. We also had some wine flights which were priced very nicely during happy hour even on a Sunday.
Love how they have happy hour even on the weekends. The drink menu is extensive here. Highly recommend making reservations prior to dining here as the seats filled up very quickly. The restaurant ambience is great with all of the wine bottles along the wall. Amelie takes Covid seriously as the entire staff is wearing gloves and masks. Highly recommend this restaurant if you want great food, wine and a place to people watch as well
Pleasantly surprised!
Three of us were there on a Saturday night because we waited too late to get reservations at places we knew. Crowded and loud at the front, so get a table all the way in the back if your goal is quiet conversation. We ordered a selection of appetizers for our meal. Warm pistachio crusted goat cheese and mushroom flatbread were especially good. Friendly service.

Beautiful and romantic venue. Great service. Best wines ever. But the food is ... the best thing. We had the escargots - firm but not a bit chewy, perfection. The filet mignon was juicy, flavorful, delightful. Fresh arugula salad with crunchy apples. Make reservations and enjoy! Can’t wait to go back try more or their menu.

Can’t get enough of great wine flights and food. Exceptional no matter what is ordered. Love the ambiance always.
