My husband and I ate here for date night.
We had heard great things about it. It's definitely got a romantic ambiance going on. There were outdoor tables with candles, and the restaurant had a nice playlist going on. The server was attentive and took our order fairly fast. I was crushed when I found out that we had to pay for bread. The three pastas we split amongst ourselves were nicely paired with wine, my husband had a pasta with crab in it and while I can't remember off the top of my head what the other two were, they were overall pretty good. It tasted like a fusion-like pasta. A mix between Mediterranean and Italian. Parking was a challenge buts it's LA, you always find a way to make it work. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a quiet, chill date night.

Since I'm vegetarian I got the risotto tots & casarrece pasta- both were delicious. Husband got the Radiatori pasta & Albacore crudo- both "out of this world" according to him. The dessert was the best part of the dinner- both super flavorful. The service staff was really nice.

They tack on hidden fees to your bill (in addition to tip) and claim that they are being so kind to offer their employees health insurance out of the goodness of their hearts and that's what that fee is for. What a joke, how about actually paying for that yourself if you're offering it (RESPONSIBILITIES OF OWNING A BUSINESS I KNOW) and not trying to sheist your customers out of a couple bucks under the disguise of benefitting your employees. Super cheap
Be the first to ReplyFood was VERY good.
A little loud but it was Vday and very busy. I booked a reservation after seeing Alimento on a list of great restaurants in NELA. When I looked Alimento up on Yelp I saw lots of mixed reviews some stating that their bill included a Healthcare tax and water being charged on the bill. This is nothing new to me as I've been to a number of restaurants that include heathcare for employees on their checks and restaurants that charge for "still" or filtered water. Tap water IS still free haha. It sucks that someone would knock a restaurant down for charging healthcare for their employee but whatever. I also saw people mention that their portions were small for the price. I found the portions to be average of other nice restaurants i've been to and the price was also average. We ordered the Smoked Fish Dip to start. Very good. Followed that with The Farro salad. Can't go wrong there. It was a great second course. Then we each got our own pasta dishes which where substantial in size. I ordered the special pasta for the night which was a creamy almost caramelized sauce with prawns. I honestly didn't want it to end. My girlfriend ordered a more simple classic pasta and red sauce with barata which was also very good. We ended our meal with a Chocolate cup which was very rich. Didn't finish all of it as we were full. Great date spot and would go back.

Couldn't begin to understand why they don't have a higher star rating. The interior is simple, elegant, and inviting. The space isn't too big but fits quite a few tables, and there's more than enough two tops. There's also a heated outdoor section in front of the restaurant and a bar available for additional seating. We came on a training night, when the kitchen was a bit slow, but our server Christian was kind, knowledgable, and still attentive. The food was excellent. We ordered the fussili and radiatori pastas along with the white bean zuppa, and all were incredible. I'm sure we came right in the middle of the first dinner wave, especially on a Friday night, but whatever hiccups they had going on in the kitchen we barely felt. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would definitely return if in the area. Only negatives which are out of the control of the restaurant: parking sucks, but that's just Silverlake; and I would not recommend this spot for small children or large parties.

I went for the first time last night and although the food is good, the portions are TINY! We were told it was family style so we all had 1 bite of each plate, left hungry and with a big bill. Honestly just skip this place and go to Hippo in highland park. Service was ok. Very loud, crammed space. Uncomfortable chairs. The only reason I don't give it 1 star is because the food was decent.

Atmosphere and service was amazing and every dish we had was fantastic.Presentation and taste of everything we had was off the charts.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing service and great ambiance and fantastic food!!!
Amazing service and great ambiance and fantastic food!!! Laura is so sweet and was so helpful. We are a vegetarian party and she explained the whole vegetarian menu to us, answered every question thoroughly. They also course out the meals at a great pace. Very flavorful food! The tots and white bean soup were our favorite! Farro salad was also so great:)

The Radiotore pasta was delicious, radicchio Caesar salad was extra delicious, broccolini quite good but Chicken Milanese sandwich was THICK and didn't shine. Service was excellent even though one person manned the whole dining Room on a Saturday night. Small place w a few tables outside as well. They let you try their wines by the glass.

I made a reservation on November 11th and SHOWED UP TO MY RESERVATION and I was still charged $60 for a no show. I called to report this mistake and they said they would let their superiors know to get a refund, because they remembered me being there.AND NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME BACK OR REFUNDED ME. I don't know about anyone else, but $60 is a lot of money to lose on a mistake on their end and they haven't even tried to fix it!! The woman on the phone said I can use that $60 on my next visit but after this I WILL NEVER RETURN.
Be the first to ReplyFood was simply not good.
They couldn't seem to bring the main courses together, so our food got cold while we waited for the final dish for one of our guests. The server pushed us to order - then pushed us to leave. It was overpriced as well. A really unpleasant experience.
Be the first to ReplyThe staff was really personable and knowledgeable.
The food was delicious refreshing surprising and very filling. Inside this cozy gem you'll find bar seating and intimate tables. Lovely spot for a date. Management is top shelf just like the cocktails! Almost don't want to review because then I'll never get a table ;)

We had been to Alimento a few times before and LOVED the food. We decided to go again with some friends after raving to them about it. We made reservations for 7:00 for four people. Our party was there on time except for me who was desperately trying to find parking, which is apparently a nightmare on a Saturday night. I had even gotten there 10 mins early to find parking. I finally found a space and walked/ran to Alimento. I got there by 7:15. Even though 3/4 people from our party had been there since 7:00, they did not seat us until I showed up. When we informed them that our whole party was there, they rudely told us our table had been given away and that our we'd have to give up our new table by 8:30. If they had just seated three of our party at 7, it wouldn't had been an issue. We left and had a great dinner somewhere else close by. We'll never be returning to Alimento after this disappointing experience.

I've been meaning to eat at Alimento for a long time and finally made it two weeks ago. Unfortunately it feels like I missed the space when it was in its prime. I don't have anything negative to say about the service or the ambience, but the food was very much a letdown. The wine list is great and so are the servers' knowledge of the wines, but the pours are very small. The main issue I have is the food should be better considering how expensive it is. There's too many good restaurants in LA at the same price point, and even more affordable ones, for me to ever come back. We ordered:Chicken Liver Toast - good not great Scallop Crudo - scallops were fresh and clean but the dish had next to no flavorRadicchio Caesar - good not great, very anchovy forward Broccolini with Hazelnuts - table favorite, most flavorful dish we had Braised Lettuce Bruschetta- we sent it back, hot lettuce on soggy bread Tortellini - was a little too al dente, pretty blandCasarecce - tomato basil pasta, good not great Fusilli - pasta and clams, good not greatOf the 8 things we ordered , the broccolini was the best, I feel like that's pretty telling. Overall the food had very little flavor, bland and one note. We went with a few of the server's recommendations, covered a good portion of the menu...I suggested the restaurant to our party so I very much wanted everyone to like it, but sadly it wasn't worth it.

The food was delicious, the service excellent (although I'm a little salty that "christian" didn't hit on either of us) and the atmosphere cozy, but a little noisy for a date. The best dishes we had were the scallop crudo, tortellini en Brado (like yellow soup dumplings), carne crudo (tartare). The spaghetti with crab and the yellowtail collar was ok. Make reservations because we got there when it opened at 530 on a rainy night and it got busy fast. Parking can be a bitch.
Be the first to ReplyI took my boyfriend here to dinner.
The place is very pretty and 1/3 food items were good but didn't match their Instagram smaller portion sizes in person. From the second we sat down things just got worse, our waiter if you can call him that; Christan, started flirting with my boyfriend/winking at him/ only servicing his needs, and ignoring my questions about the menu to talk about himself and how much he wants to go to Italy after my BF answered his question yes that he had been to Italy. To being served spirits and requesting a straw and being told by Christan that the establishment didn't have straws. After my date asked another waiter for a straw they instantly responded yeah give me one second, spoke to Christan at the host table and then came back to our table and said yeah I'm sorry Christian said we don't have any. right after this I then proceed to watch the young gentleman walk behind the bar and visibly talk badly about us as he asked her to take over the table halfway through our meal. The pasta came 45 minutes after everything else. Slow awful customer service mixed with not matching what you are representing online and charging $2.50 for lemon tap water lol this night was truly disappointing.
Be the first to ReplySO SO DELICIOUS! Great, attentive service.
Really loved the spritz, the tots, and scallop crudo. A must go to if in Silverlake
Be the first to ReplyFirst time here - portions are tiny for the price.
Similar to ordering tapa style. We all left still hungry. Biggest turnoff is - they charge for WATER. $4.50I've never been to a restaurant where such practice exists - at least notify the customer? Or else I wouldn't have asked for a water refill lol. They also charge 4% for staff health insurance. That's cool and all, but why charge the customer extra on top of the other expensive surcharges. Management should just provide that benefit to their employees without involving the patrons imo.

I love everything about Alimento! The patio is so lovely, our server was charming, kind, and skilled - and the food was divine. I have an allergy to alliums and would you believe they had a special menu for me!?!? Heaven. Speaking of heaven, the chocolate budino is one of the most delcious things I've ever eaten. But, so were the risotto tots... and the braised lettuce bruschetta. And everything my friends ordered too. Just go, it's so good.
Be the first to ReplyGood god, we get it.
You've got a reservation already for the table you're gracing us with at 7:45. Being reminded repeatedly is completely awkward. I'd made the mistake of not reading some Yelp! reviews before going here. The host made very clear on three separate occasions within a five minute window, that we were to vacate our table. The server came and asked us what we wanted about 10 minutes into being seated. We still hadn't been given a menu or a QR code to scan. Luckily, I guess, we had checked out the menu on the website. First, we shared very strange tasting risotto tots. My dining companion and I were having a really hard time identifying what was wrong with them. It took a while but we both decided that they tasted metallic. I've waited tables before and worked in restaurants. I know it's not the server's fault if there's something wrong with the food. So when I gently mentioned that we weren't going to be finishing the tots and that we thought it was metallic tasting or maybe freezer burned, the server took it as if I had kicked his dog. He said well, I know they're not freezer burned because they make them here. Twice. He didn't try to make it right but went full blown defensive. I dialed it back a little bit and said we just want the Chef to know in case there's something wrong with that batch. He walked away saying, I'll ask. We were like, we didn't need you to ask, we just wanted Chef to know so they don't get additional complaints. I can't be sure if the chef was ever informed but the host came over and offered us something else which was nice and typical in the restaurant industry, but we opted to just move onto the main courses. She removed that item from our bill, which was fine. Next up we had a tiny (good salad) and a chicken sandwich which was supposed to be spicy and instead was incredibly bland and $18. It also came on a super tiny plate which was weird because it was messy. Only ate about 1/8 of it.So in a nutshell, felt unwelcome, felt uncomfortable, left disappointed and hangry, with lighter wallets, and won't return.
Be the first to ReplyWe absolutely love the food here.
One of our favorites for sure. ย This is always our first choice for celebration dinners.
Be the first to ReplyFive stars for the food, but the service and overall
Five stars for the food, but the service and overall experience was not good. We were right on time for our reservation, got seated, then didn't see a server for fifteen minutes. We had to flag someone down and tell them, and then wait some more. Our server was charming but incompetent. Kept forgetting things, talked us into getting one dish and then brought us another. The chef brought some of our dishes out which was cool but he seemed SO MAD about it. Guys, if you're going to have the chef bring stuff out and he's going to be that moody about it, just don't bother. Now, the kicker. When we finished our meal we were chatting with the folks next to us, and then the hostess (who was very sweet) came out to tell us we had to leave for the next seating. It was 7:45. We arrived at 6:15. Then waited to get served. Then our server brought us wine but no glasses. Then we had to send food back cause they brought the wrong thing. A fantastic food experience really spoiled by bad service and a weird vibe that made us feel like we were intruding the whole time we were there.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is really reaaaally good (especially the pasta)
The food is really reaaaally good (especially the pasta) but I unfortunately have to give a bad review because of the customer service - SPECIFICALLY the hostess. I had never been to this place and was really excited to discover a new restaurant, but upon seating us at our table (with quite the attitude), the hostess told us in a cold tone that she will need our table by 8pm (our reservation was 6:30pm). Now mind you, there were some open tables around us when 8pm came around, but she still came and basically told us to leave. It is too bad as I really enjoyed the food (although felt really rushed to order anything/make my choices) but her attitude was just a no for me and will probably never come back to this place because of it. I really hope that a manager will see this and change this because it is really too bad.
Be the first to ReplyThis was my first time to Alimento post-pandemic.
Was super excited as I remembered loving the menu, vibe, etc etc. However, after being seated 15 minutes past our reservation time (7), we were informed the hostess needed the table back at 8:30. Look, I get it, restaurants need to turn tables to make that cash however the joy of using one's hard earned dollars to go out to eat is to have time to peruse the menu, decide on wine, experience courses, have dessert at the table (not to go, which was the only option) -- not to mention spend time with their dining companions. The rushed nature of my meal ruined the experience and the dishes are not worth the "fast food" atmosphere. Staff lacked warmth and genuine hospitality -- seemed annoyed patrons were even present.
