Don’t bother with this one. This was a shockingly large let down. To start off with, I want to say that the staff in the main body of the hotel (at the door and host at the desk to the restaurant were exquisite). The surroundings are absolutely lovely. However, everything following those interactions was a let down at best and insultingly archaic on average. The waitress we had was actually quite rude and abrupt. We are talking my plate being taken away from under me whilst I was half way through eating a sandwich. Eye contact was barely existent throughout the seating. And my boyfriend, who had ordered a vegetarian afternoon tea barely got scraps. Our waitress was actually trying to convince us that fish gelatin was considered vegetarian and that we should have ordered the vegan option in advance if he didn’t want gelatin in desserts. In any case, they agreed to provide vegan desserts for him but these basically consisted of 3 tasteless mini loafs. It was actually a joke. The sandwiches were of terrible quality, and the bread tasted like it had been left out for several hours. Scones which were warm to start, served with the patisseries and a warm chocolate fondue meant that either the scones or the fondue would go cold. At over £160 pounds, this is unacceptable. It also took about 20 minutes from when we actually requested our bill to receive it. Make up your mind - either you want to rush us out by pulling the plates from underneath us while we are still eating or keep us there longer by ignoring our requests. The Langham serves a far superior experience for the same price. Go there.
