I both wanted and expected to love Addison, based on reviews, etc. That did not happen. To very, very clear--I love food and am the furthest thing from even frugal, when it comes to spending money on a dining experience. However, I was grossly disappointed with my experience with the Addison. When we arrived, we were told our table would be ready in just a few minutes. Fast forward about 40-45 minutes and we were finally seated. Someone then approached and told us that we had "come at just the perfect time" because a certain truffle (Australian black, I believe) was in season and incorporated in their menu, along with a wagyu. I'm not sure what that sounds like, when no other context is given, other than that those 2 items will be featured in some of the courses that night. Fast forward again and our bill was double what we "signed up for" since those 2 items were not a part of the menu, but rather add-ons, should you opt in. We didn't opt in. Quite frankly, I have had the cut of meat that was served several times before, so while it was good, it didn't "wow". As for the truffles, out of preference, I would have certainly opted out of that one, had I known that it wasn't a part of the experience unless added on. Also, the service was extremely stiff and rehearsed--it's definitely intentional and not on any one person, but it's also definitely weird. It would have been a non-issue if not for the other issues, but since there were other issues... To reiterate, this has zero to do with money spent and everything to do with feeling lied to and like information was purposely left out to "trick us into something". The meal, overall, was fine. A few items I loved, the rest were fine. The experience overall was less than fine--with the waiting, deceitful presentation of what's to come and the food not being mind-blowing, I, unfortunately, can't recommend this place. We left with one of those "we should have read the fine print" feelings, but there was never any fine print to read.
