High quality japanese restaurant
This is a small, very beautiful restaurant in side street of upscale location near all designer shops. Everybody sit on a counter looking chefs working. Set menu with various ingredients and methods (not a sushi restaurant). Sake pairing available (no wine pairing, but bottles and by the glass available). Every piece was good, some (such as cat fish liver) exceptional. Number of wau's was in line with its Michelin star rating. Very professional, efficient and nice service.

Never thought I'd come across a Kyล-Kaiseki restaurant in Toronto! This place is Michelin-quality! The service, the food, and the atmosphere were exceptional. Head chef Ryusuke is extremely talented!

Aburi Hana is an exciting addition to the Japanese food experience in Toronto. It is located in the heart of Yorkville, down a lane way off Yorkville Ave. The restaurant is very tastefully designed and reminded me immediately of modern places in Tokyo. All customers are served at the counter and watching the expert chefs working on their creations is a big part of the enjoyment. The set menu is a well thought out, choreographed flow of creative, unique tasting dishes that will leave you eagerly anticipating the next dish. My favorite was an absolutely delicious Nova Scotia lobster dish, prepared in a totally new to me way. Every item was fresh, unique and beautiful, served on authentic Japanese dishes. Service is incredible and of a high quality rare in Canada. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, explaining each dish in detail. There is a sommelier to help with wine and sake choices. I have tried all the best kaiseki, omakase and sushi places in Toronto and Aburi Hana surpassed them all. It stands comfortably with the best I have visited in Japan and the US, some of which were Michelin starred. If you appreciate fine Japanese cuisine, for its taste, creativeness, beauty and the service that comes with it, then make an evening at Aburi Hana. Allow at least two hours plus for the experience, and be sure to reserve.

Just returned from a visit to Hana and I'm still buzzing from my experience as I write. Beginning to end, it was a perfectly choreographed dance of stellar food, ambiance, sensory and the service, wow! Hana has joined the Toronto food scene and they did not come to play. Each element of your experience is met with a humbling hospitality where you are graciously guided on this food journey that the incredible chef, Ryusuke has created for you with his team. They make it a point to get to know you the minute you enter their space and you truly get to be as you are as you take in the sights, smells and artistry that happens before your eyes. They really do tell you to buckle yourself in and get ready for the show. Food: I was dazzled beyond measure by the dance of flavours and textures. After that many courses, we had 15, there is not one point of which you aren't surprised or blown away by the craftsmanship and attention to detail. My photos say it all and my palate is now a notch higher thanks to this experience. You can tell this menu was created to showcase the artwork of Ryusuke and it was like being in an interactive art gallery. The chef and team make it a point to have you join in on the experience, sharing in the story and inspiration behind each plate. The food was whimsical, thoughtful and yet, fierce with passion. Ambiance: The restaurant is tastefully decorated with an element of calm. As you walk in to be seated in front of the kitchen, you know this is a special event and they have been waiting to graciously receive you. With only eight seats, it is an intimate and up close show. You are their guest and they are there to make this something worth writing home about. You aren't at any moment rushed and the sequence of time between each plate is again, a mastery. Service: Next to none. Service was the cherry on top of an already beautifully constructed sundae. The service team receives you beyond a level that I've lately experienced at any other similar level of an establishment. Other restos need to desperately take note. Despite only being open for 2 wks, each individual brought their A game and they were as polished in their knowledge, as they were attentive. They really made the experience for us, helping to guide you through each course and providing you with a wealth of information to make each bite all that more delightful. They allowed each patron to be themselves in a space that traditionally in the industry would make you feel like you'd need stiffen up a bit. I was beyond impressed at the attention to detail particularly noticing I was left handed and adjusting my tablewear accordingly. All of the staff work in tandem with each other without skipping a beat and they collaborate effortlessly leaving me beaming with pride. They have set the bar extremely high and they probably aren't fully aware of how amazing they are. So is this a love letter of the sorts for Hana? Absolutely! I think what's important to note here is that whatever kind of diner you are, this place truly speaks to your element. In my opinion, there is great value for dollar for what you receive and you sense that you've gotten way more than you expected. Toronto really needed a restaurant like this to shake up the food scene and in my books this establishment has just made it clear that they've arrived. xx Kien
