😒 3/5 - Chef's Tasting Menu: totally overpriced

I had the Chef's Tasting Menu and left with mixed feelings. While the service was very good and considerate, the quality of the nine courses was pretty varied. Some outstanding dishes were followed by pretty mediocre ones. Especially the meat (venison from Texas) was overcooked and its presentation almost banale. Also, I found they overdid it with the Asian-type souces which totally dominated the fish dishes. The deserts were disappointing and lacked finesse. No special attention ("amuse-bouche"), not even a cup of coffee offered at the end of the meal. The whole thing was rushed through, it took less than two hours and might have been even faster, had I not explicitly told the waitrer to slow down a bit. On the positive side: the chef did come to see me twice, and the wine pairing was quite nice, they did also replace one of the wines I didn't like. But overall, the value for money was not spectacular and I seriously wonder whether the experience was worth the pretty long Uber ride from downtown San Francicso.
