3rd Cousin San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
Nobody Asked For Your Ego With Dinner
I just want to preface that I've worked in fine dining for 10+ years and have NEVER complained about service once, but this was an experience unlike anything I've ever had (and have been trained to avoid in my career) I understand Valentine's Day seating in a Michelin star restaurant. I understand how big of a wrench a late seating throws into the greater plan of service. I get it, I really do. I apologize for showing up about 30m late, but in our defense we tried to let you know. It was raining tonight, which in general leads to increased traffic times in the city. I took that into consideration when taking a car service, and still it didn't work out in our favor. I made sure to call ahead before I was late to let them know I would be arriving later than my reservation. I called 6 times, no answer, only to show up to the OWNER/CHEF (Greg Lutes) telling me he was about to give my table away. I let him know I had called multiple times, and he very cheerily let me know they do not answer the phone during service. Not once did he tell me he was going to call the phone number I gave upon booking to see if we were on our way, just flat out cancellation. After arriving and explaining to the owner the situation, he not only told us he was about to give our reservation away but informed us we would be rushed through our tasting. To be expected honestly, but I was turned off as to no accommodation to give us an optimal experience. No effort into potentially moving us to a later seating or switching to a different day. Paying about $800 for 2 dinners with wine pairings, I'd think they'd at least be KIND when telling me the time crunch with my table at minimum. The customer service and table side manner left something to be desired. After seating us, the owner proceeded to talk poorly of us within earshot. "The 630 reservation showed up promptly!" Was not something I wanted to hear after being seated. I get it, we were late. But it's in poor taste to let your guests hear your distaste. He then proceeded to say several other crude comments before heading back to the host stand. I've seen coworkers of mine fired for less. The fact that I heard the owner talking that way about me was absolutely abhorrent. I've always been trained to keep my opinions to myself in these situations, and to hear an owner speak that way so nonchalantly was jarring. Food was amazing. Wine was incredible. All other staff members were so kind and professional. Not once did any of them rush us along during our meal or made us feel pressured to speed up. That part of the experience was exceptional. I can not stand pompous ownership with poor customer service skills. He was very present and kind at every other table, yet he only touched ours once and was fairly cold. I'm sure this won't affect him in the slightest, but I hope anyone who is stumbling upon this place thinks twice before spending as much money as I did. Also, if this is the way he treats his clientele, I can't imagine how he treats his staff....

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
