Raw slays the sushi scene
Friendly helpful staff and delicious servings. Loved the well reviewed octopus and enjoyed the bar special. Marinated vegetables were a good complement.

Hands down the best sushi ever. Jess was a great server and walked us through the menu. Everything we had was fresh and tasty. Each item was better than the next. The wagyu was perfect and the special roll - the Santiago- was the best roll we ever had. Dinner was finished with a double order of the fish bao bun (one was not enough). Wine was excellent as well. Such a gem of a place. Thanks for a lovely evening.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic sushi restaurant with a local spin!
Wow! 167 Sushi is a SUPER experience! Our expectations were low since we rarely find an authentic and delicious sushi restaurant in mainland US, but 167 Sushi was a delight! We actually booked a second dinner reservation on the spot during our six night stay in Charleston! The food is authentic but with local spin. We loved the softshell crab roll and the chicken bao but the highlight was the fresh sashimi and sushi choices, coupled with superior sake. We recommend 167 Sushi wholeheartedly!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious creative menu
This small sushi restaurant has a very creative menu. Everything we ate was delicious, from the cucumber salad to the lamb noodles. Their tasty sushi rolls each had a creative twist as well. The staff was friendly, and even the chef wanted to know what we thought about the various dishes he created. Make sure to reserve a table well in advance as there’s limited seating. I would definitely dine here again when visiting Charleston.
Be the first to ReplyLoved the food at this great restaurant. Would go again in a heartbeat
Loved the food here. My wife and I ate the pulled pork Bao, the charred octopus and the duck fried rice, washed down with a nice albarino. Each dish was fantastic and we watched it all being prepared from our bar table right in front of the kitchen. Diego and Brian, our chefs, did a great job taking care of us and really added to the experience. We did not eat the sushi on this occasion but we saw some of it and it looked great. The restaurant is fairly small and perhaps a little on the noisy side with most of the seating being bar style, but we would definitely go there again when in Charleston
Be the first to ReplyMy dreams came true
My husband and I were looking for extraordinary Asian food, and 167 Raw Sushi did not disappoint. We sat on chairs looking into the small kitchen and watched Chefs Miles and Diego whip up the most delicious dishes. We had the charred octopus, the pork bao, and the duck rice which came with a tender duck leg with crispy skin over a bed of seasoned crispy rice. Whoa!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, overpriced and small.
The servers and staff were courteous, the food was good. But $15 for a small duck meat stick with mostly sauce? Not worth the touted prices. Sushi was fresh, but we’ve had much better for half the cost in the middle of the country. 167 has many restaurants and they are all popular and that’s great! Love local, just would not repeat or seek this out.
Be the first to ReplyBest food for lunch
Could not recommend a better lunch spot. Very small restaurant and service is attentive. Grouper Bao special could be the best food we had in Charleston. Lobster curry also highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyTry this tiny place!
We had Omekaze, chef’s choice. Despite the fact that the fish had not originated in Charleston, it was delicious: The salmon both tender and juicy, the hamachi fresh and a little chewy, and so on. It was beautifully prepared and served on a piece of slate. The white, sparkling wine added to the experience. Terrific meal.
Be the first to ReplySuperb!!!
Stepped by here for the first time and have been stunned by the quality of the food. Absolutely amazing what this small team can do in the small Kitchen. The fried rice with lobster and the wontons very super special. Fantastic!!
Be the first to ReplyRun...do not walk to this excellent spot!
I do not normally enjoy paying ~$100 for lunch. Matter of fact, there is only one other place in the US I willingly pay a lot for lunch/brunch, and I'll tell you later.
167 Sushi Bar is the new-ish makeover of the wildly successful 167 Seafood Restaurant, which moved to a King St location a couple years ago.
I cannot tell you how impressed we were a couple weeks ago when we stopped in for lunch, and took two of the four kitchen view seats available. Let's be clear, the dishes here are NOT standard sushi fare....they are creative, unique, challenging and worth it. Pot stickers and dumplings are different from what you expect, their flavors bursting from the dough. Sashimi/Nigiri menu is limited and fantastic...I had a deep water sake (Salmon), full of fat. Our rolls were insane. Tempura was top notch. The drink menu was unique also...my wife loves Japanese beer with her servings and they had an Okinowan rice beer that complimented the food perfectly. I imagined servicemen and women enjoying this beer over the decades. We inquired of the cooks about a pink protein they were preparing in front of us. I literally didn't know what it was...so, it was Japanese Wagyu Deckle! If you don't know this cut...it's the fatty cap on the ribeye. It was so pink! He prepared it for the order in front of him...and asked us if we wanted some. We looked at each other for a few seconds...and then he said, "For free?". Well...I said thank you Sir! We had it delivered maybe half way through our meal and it was flash broiled on the grill. Pure decadence in a bite. Think of other insane bites like Foie Gras or Caviar.
We were concerned we didn't have enough food for lunch...but after all was said and done, it was a perfect special lunch.
What other restaurant is worth this brunch bill? It's Balthazar in NYC. Completely different than this place and worth every penny.

Wonderful lunch
We had lunch at the 167Raw yesterday and they told us about their sushi place so had to try it.
It’s down by the cruise boat terminal and we decided to get there as it opens - which was a great call as it was full within a few minutes! Most of the tables are at the bar/counter which is great to see what’s going on with the preparation of the food.
Menu isn’t massive but there are extra items of the day written on the back wall. We chose a couple of sushi rolls and 2 hot dishes between us. The rolls were well presented with some lovely crunches bits in the top (not sure what they were!) and tasted good.
My wife had the duck leg and dirty rice which she absolutely loved - beautifully cooked duck and a well put together rice with extras to enhance the taste. I had the spicy fish bao buns and could have eaten them all day - perfectly cooked buns with a lovely spicy sauce in the fried fish.
Staff were all excellent and made the lunch even more memorable.
