FYR Bistronomi & Bar Oslo Reviews from The Last Year
Unfortunately, this was an overall bad experience and it mostly has to do with service. The food was quite ok, but the main course was cold. The staff were nice, but the service was slow and random. It didn't seem like anyone was responsible for the table and we had to ask to order food, order drinks, the wine came after the main course had been served and we had to remind one of the waiters that we had ordered. It seemed disorganized and random. The experience as a whole was not in proportion to the price. There are better places in Oslo in the same price range.
Don’t
If you are looking for a place with the slowest service, highest prices and earliest shadow - this is your place! Stopped by their outdoor service today. Won’t make that mistake again.
Bad food in beautiful premises
The food was by no means up to standard. We went for 5 courses, which were relatively ok priced. Quite a decent starter that could have been a substitute for bread before the meal. Crayfish was well fried but, totally tasteless sauce. Dishes that are not in season were tasteless and undercooked. The veal, I'm not sure if it was veal at all, red not bright in the meat with an egg and nauseating taste without texture with celery that wasn't soft and cooked through, the sauce was bitter and sour. Fortunately, they ended with a fresh and good dessert. Guide Michelin should set up a dissuasion here, not a recommendation.
Good experience
Very good food. Well prepared for gluten-free options. Good timing on serving. Those who served were attentive and considerate. A little noisy in the room when it is full and a little poor control of the music volume.
Cozy place but the service was bad.
I don't understand how this restaurant has a Michelin star. The premises are idyllic and cosy, but the service and food fail completely! Waiters push for a 7-course menu without informing about the option to eat 'à la carte' They don't ask if the food tastes good, and we have to wait for refills. The main course tastes absolutely terrible, the wine that was recommended enhanced the sour sauce and the meat might as well have been fish, because the sour sauce and vegetables overshadowed everything. I am very very disappointed!
Very good address
It's the best restaurant tested in Oslo, just delicious fish as well as the accompaniments, great wine list. To recommend
I throughly enjoyed everything about Fyr.
I was very impressed by the food and loved every single dish. I only wish you had an English menu translation for those of us who don't speak Norwegian The staff was very helpful and translated most everything for me. Tusen takk for a lovely evening
Bad experience, ongoing service, little food.
Very far from real 'bistronomy'. The service is really pushy, pushing for a 7-course menu without informing about the possibility of eating 'à la carte'. The food is very greasy and salty. Portions are small. The service pushes for consumption. I don't understand the Michelin recommendation and the term 'bistronomy'. As a Frenchman, I know a bit about the bistro culture. This has nothing to do with it. Maybe the residents of Oslo appreciate it, but for others I would advise against it. It is better to eat a good hamburger elsewhere in the city.
